He hit the buttom "Mute", hit it and sound will come. Or in right bottom of your monitor it mst be picture of sound, one click on it, must open small winddow, in bottom of window there is cheked mute, one click one cheked and you will remove it, and sound will come.

if you can get the correct replacement it should just slide in under a spring steel clip

If your talking about the Windows Certificate it should be on the bottom of the computer or take the battery out and look in the pocket where the battery was.

you can put on compaq e500, because e500 Pentium 3 and use DIMM PC133, but not show on screen you must sure your DIMM no broken.

To unmute, follow the steps

• Click on Start
• Go to Control Panel
• Double click on Sound

A window will appear where you can adjust sound levels and different option. From there, you can click on the red circle again and unmute it.

You need a new battery. batteries do not last forever and need to be replaced. Search ebay and you can find a replacement.

Your hard drive is about to crash. depending on your model computer, one of the F keys accesses the bios. That is where you will find the boot priority menu so you can change it.

you can try to boot in f12 format if it comes up again that way my secound advise you will have to get windows.

try the F8 key tap it a few times while rebooting if you can get ineo safe mode watch and see what flags come up.

If your laptop doesn't have this and you still need wireless connectivity, better get a usb-type wireless adapter. This should give your laptop wireless functionality, same as a wireless adapter.

remove battery and internal battery and after 15 min install all back it will reset bios

Press F10 just after powering the PC, to access BIOS of your Compaq Armada E500 Notebook.

Not always the Hard drive, boot into the bios setup utility and de-select network bootfrom the boot options. If it tries to network boot first you will always get that failure.

It seem to be a driver problem reinstalling the driver should resolve the issue.
