What is the function of the f2 key in a keyboard

It can have any number of functions depending on the program that you're using. It can also be mapped to various laptop functions (designated by a smaller symbol near the F2, accessed by holding the Fn button and pressing the F2 button).

The £ character is part of the font character set which changes when u change character sets.
If you want to stay with the language settings you have you must determine where the £ is in the character set.
My £ is produced when I enter ALT + 156. The character is in the upper 128 of characters. Number 156 to be exact. For the British KBD it is mapped to a key to make it a single keystoke.

If this is a wired keyboard (USB or PS2) then turn off the computer. Unplug the keyboard, and bang it against your palm to work some of the debris out of the keyboard. Now check the d key and make sure it bounces back when pressed. You might also take a small screw driver and pry the d key off the key board and see if there is anything sticky on it. If so try cleaning with alcohol. Last ditch effort before replacing the keyboard completely: Run the key board under running water to rinse it. MAKE SURE YOU LET IT DRY FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS (KEYS DOWN) BEFORE PLUGGING BACK IN. I have had this method work more than once. If it works its great if not, then non of the key board will work.

My dell latop k\b some

Pick up a can of compressed air (called Duster at most hardware stores) and try blowing out the keyboard. If that doesn't work, you can pry off the keys using a butter knife or a screwdriver (careful not to break the hinges) for the keys that are not working to see if you can find anything keeping the key from being pressed down (NOTE: Even hair is thick enough to mess with the keys), if that doesn't work I would suspect a problem with the keyboard. You can take it into a repair facility for a proper cleaning for a small fee, but you may need to get a replacement keyboard and install it. You can find them on ebay all day long if you search for your model number, or you could go through dell.com. Just be sure to contact the seller (if using ebay) to ensure that the keyboard you want to buy is compatible with YOUR model of computer, if not usually they'll suggest one that is.

How do I use the calculator feature on my laptop?

To access the calculater, go to the start menu, and in the search box at the bottom, type "calulator". It will appear in the list above. Click it, and it will open.
To use the number pad on the keyboard (if equipped) make sure the "num lock" is on, on the keyboard. (usually directly above the 7 button).
For different uses, such as scientific and that, there should be a file menu on the calculator that will allow you to switch between various forms of the calculator.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

The letter "C" popped off

Hi Madelaine_an,I'm sure that when the letter popped off, two white plastics also came off beneath the letter. Now if you kept them and did not throw them away, you have to first fix both of them, one facing up, the other facing down. There are two insertion points on the missing space on your key board where they are to fit into. These white plastics have edges on them, and can be a little bit depressed to fit into their insertion points, where they expand to fill it after fitting. They are designed such that when you see them you would know which goes into what direction. If you try it one way and it doesnt fit in, then you are trying it wrongly. Reverse the directions. After you have done that, get your letter 'C', and press it into the white plastic. If you fixed the white plastic well, the key should lock into it, but be flexible, ie move up and down.I hopoe that was able to solve your problem? I would appreciate a rating.Have a nice day.

Where is F13 key in dell inspiron1445 laptop ??

Hi,
On Windows based machines, such as the Dell Inspiron Laptop Series, they do not come with a built in F13 key. Unfortunately you cannot add one to the keyboard, but it may be referring to the key after F12, which is usually labeled as Print Screen/SysRQ or PRTSCRN/SYSRQ. It is located around here:
adebelius_5.jpg

Some external keyboards have an F13 for editing programs that use it. Sorry your laptop does not have one!
Hope this helps. If it does, please accept and rate the solution! Contact me with any more questions you may have. Thanks for using FixYa!

Hi there,
I know stickers that you can use to stick on the keys if the letters or numbers have worn off. Maybe that will do the trick but if it's slippery keys and it's the keyboard design and you are using a USB keyboard.
I think the best way to go is to get a generic one from BEST BUY, STAPLES, etc... Just plug it in the back of the computer where the current keyboard is and everything should work well.
