Provided that the audio is not disabled in the BIOS or muted in the volume controls and that the driver is properly installed, then the next step is re-seating the F2 cooling fan assembly (The audio board is part of the fan assembly, don't ask me why)

You have to reload your operating system. Somehow you windows got corrupted.

Hello, Its because of the fault in memory ..So try to remove the RAM and clean the slots and reinsert again ...

Turn off your PC and press FN(function key) + Power at the same time. This will start in diagnostic mode, and eventually go to LCD BIST test. If you hear beeps then chances are it is your video card or LCD panel. You could try hooking up to an external monitor it that works than your LCD panel needs to be replaced.

You might find a driver at Driversguide.com, and you might help someone there.

Remove the battery the ac adapter,the memory.the hard drive and the cd rom.Press and hold the power button down for twenty seconds.Replace the memory first then the battery and the ac ,power up if this works add the other pieces one by one.REMEMBER BEFORE YOU ADD EACH PIECE THERE MUST BE NO POWER ,NO BATTERY OR AC ADAPTER.

Download the driver and software from the Dell website. Install as instructed. Then run the camera manager software to find and configure the camera. Once that's done, you can configure the camera via Skype or any other software you want to use with the camera. But the Dell drivers have to be in first.

have u purchased new display.. then wats the prob man? who changed ur display ask him to check.

probably a case of dry-souldering or loose contact..

do it only if u r a professional..
check the above esp at the inverter circuit..
look for loose/faulty ram with a standby (for safety)..
the ccfl; inverter circuit; or even the lcd....

so itz always better to hv supervision..frm ur system admin/vendor/good or authorized service center....

Reseat the video cable connection under the keyboard. If no change, press the Fn Key while Pressing power button, this will start a PSA diagnostics, there will be 2 sets of color bars appear and a Yes or No at the end of 2nd color bar, press N to start the LCD diagnostic. If the LCD is still 1/2 and 1/2 in the LCD diagnostic, you need an LCD. If the issue doesn't appear in the diagnostic, then replace the motherboard.

the sound programmes were probably deleted i did this to an older laptop and after it was fixed in the shop i only got a chipmunk sound at best, best bring it back and ask for a recovery cd or get it fixed

have you already tried other card? does the card you are using have you tried that with other computer? need to isolate which is have issues. media card or card reader. if proven card reader has issues then replace card reader or motherboard.

The reason they told your daughter that is because either there isn't a powerful enough CPU and enough memory to support it and also there are no vista drivers for that laptop on Dell's website.

If you decide to put vista on that laptop your going to need to make sure that whatever hardware drivers vista doesn't detect, you'll need to search on the net to find vista compatible drivers if they are out there, it will be time consuming.

My recommendation from my own experience, make sure you have at least a 2GHz processor and 1GB or memory.

Try reseating the LCD cable to the video card. If no change, then you will most likely need a replacement LCD (Roughly $150 on EBay)

Your motherboard is not the problem. Try this. When you are on your main desktop right click your mouse. Click properties, click on settings. This will show you your monitor settings. Make sure that you have 32 bit clicked on quality. Change your screen resolution so your numbers are higher. Just change it to the resolution that you want. its ur internal problem

99% of the time, thats a short in the VGA LCD cable inside the unit. Contact Dell for service if you still have warranty. otherwise, you will need to repair it yourself. Try re-seating the video cable or ordering ONLY the video cable, and replace that first. You will have to take the unit apart to make the repairs. If you have warranty, PLEASE call dell and get the parts replaced. Trying it yourself VOIDS the warranty, so make SURE you dont have a warranty before making it yourself.
