Start your PC and press F8 several times until the boot menu comes up. Then select "Safe Mode with Networking". Now get some or ALL of the FREE programs below......

Hook a spare monitor to the video ouput usually on the back, if picture okay! the LCD panel display from the laptop will need to be a replaced, but if both show the same symptom it is the video graphics card usually built into the motherboard.

You may need to Set the date and time in side your BIOS, you can enter inside BIOS by pressing DEL or F2 keys and set the date and time. Or you can set the time and date in windows mood also.

if still you are facing the same problem than you may need to change your CMOS battery, it can be located near RAM or may be near your H.DD inside the laptop. Replace your old CMOS battery.

Hi

It sounds like an overheating problem.

The heat sinks and fans should be checked for dust, and to make sure they are working. If you do not feel comfortable opening up the computer to clean it out then I would recommend using canned air or a vacuum to carefully remove any accumulated dust from the airvents on the systems.

Make sure it is powered off and the battery and AC cords are removed before you do this. Also make sure about where the laptop is setting, dont put it on the bed, pillow, or anywhere air cannot get underneath it, raising the rear of the laptop with something[ like a deck of cards] will improve airflow, a cooling plate is even better

If its yours, I believe there is a way to call Dell and after security verifications, they might be able to walk you through a back door.

The other possibility, is to remove the battery from the main board which involves taking the whole unit apart.

thanks

You will need to check if there's a problem with the hardware, you will have to use the built in diagnostic for your laptop or if you have the drivers disc you can run the diagnostic there. Try to go to safe mode, if you can check the recent hardware or software changes you've made, you can try to reseat the hdd, try one memory at a time, though if you have memory errors, usually you will hear a beeping sound.
