Sounds like liquid may have been spilled on the keyboard.

Plug in an external usb keyboard and check if it works.

If so, you will need to buy a replacement keyboard and swap it out, best cheap from Ebay.

Normally there is a hardware switch on the side of the laptop

Sometimes you can press on the keyboard some buttons like this -
Activate by pressing FN (on same line as spacebar in blue) and then a button that looks similar to this one.

It depends upon the type of usage. In a technical review, a battery test was performed where they disable power management, maximized the screen brightness and enabled the wireless radio while looping video files, it lasted 1hr 33min. This is an extreme, and using power management and turning down or off items not needed, the battery life will be longer. Mileage varies by user.

You have two options. First check the ribbon cable that is is attached to the motherboard and the screen. If the cable is firmly attached, it could be one of two things. A bad ribbon cable, or a bad screen. Then only option would be to replace one or another, or both if you prefer.

If it fits then the laptop may not recognize the charger or the charger needs to be replaced. However, it may have a short and you could move it until it works, which is usually the case with chargers that I diagnose.
