I have loaded the ribbon on my IBM Selectric II
On the L. side of the cassette where the ribbon comes out there is thin finger sticking up the ribbon should be to the L. of it. Be sure you are turning the take up spool top nto the left. Sometimes the arm that swings into the ribbon and drives it gets gummy and won't move into the ribbon.

I have an IBM Personal
IF UNIT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS TYPING BUT NOTHING SHOWS ON PAPER, THEN THE BUMPER PAD ON THE HAMMER SOLENOID HAS FALLEN APART AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. MOST TYPEWRITER REPAIR COMPANIES SHOULD HAVE THIS PART IN STOCK AND SHOULD BE ABLE TO REPLACE IT IN ABOUT 30 MINUTES.

Error 215 code. Looks
215 is a print wheel error. If you have the "FLAG" broken it will have to be replaced. You will probably need a tech.

You didn't give a model So I'll guess a wheelwriter, try a little WD40 on the silver shaft that the carrier slides on.

You should hear the motor and the function keys should work index ret. etc. If it has been sitting for a long time the motor or power switch may be gummy.

Sticky keyboard, is there some
I assume you are talking about a selectric T/W. You can use some WD40 on it but they usually have to be taken apart to properly free up.
