After we changed the printing spools, the printer is having problems
Spools? Do you mean the toner cartridge?
If it is, take it out and holding it on the outside edges, rock it back and forth 10 to 20 times to even out the toner in the cartridge.
And rock it, don't shake it. Then put it back in and try it again.
If it has the same problem, there's a chance you got a bad cartridge; in the case explain the problem to the provider and ask them to give you a replacement.
How do you set coil temp on ibm 6400
Press Scroll up and Down at the same time to unlock the enter key then Press Scroll up, Down, Enter and Return at the same time to access the CE menu. Scoll down till you get the set temp and press enter.
ONLY due this after the printer has been idle for at least 2 hours or you may damage your printer.

Try running couple of these test, to see if it might be another issue.
It should be printing these test at 1500 Line Per Minute... ?
1500LPM is at 10CPI if you have (Font size: 6, 8, 12, 14) it will make a difference.
Change your driver to Generic/Text, rerun your report... any difference?
P17 Security Violation
Hi,
This is not a good sign. Have you recently replaced the controller board ? Or upgraded the microcode. This error refers to the Security Pal chip on the controller board. Itt would be worthwhile reseating it , if you are compitent to do so. Otherwise you may be lokking at calling an IBM engineer to solve the problem.

IBM 6400 model i10 print problem
It's likely a "hammer" is defective. This can be caused by
a build up of ink under the ribbon shield and/or around the hammer "fret" itself or the fret is physically broken. Remember
that this is a "shuttle" printer and each fret covers anywhere from
one to three characters depending on model. Some cover fractions of characters as well. The problem will appear as either
data missing on the left or right margin or a blank column of missing data going down the page.
A technician is required to solve all of these problems as the
shuttle assembly must be removed.
How to change from parallel to serial
Hi,
if your PC has a serial port I'd think the motherboard should have a parallel port header on board. What you'd need to find would then (if my idea is right) just be a parallel port bracket for your computer (to be mounted at the back, in one of the plugin card spaces) which should come with a standardized connector to fit the header on the motherboard. After connection make sure that the parallel port is enabled in your BIOS
