Formmatted memory card showing check
You don't state the type nor capacity of card you're attempting to use, but the problem you describe is typical of having used the wrong one.
Your SV-AV50 is compatible with SD cards only up to an absolute maximum capacity of 2GB. I strongly suspect that you have tried to use an SDHC card which will fit in the slot and looks the same, but as a later development it's incompatible with all hardware designed for regular SD cards only..
Your camera cannot be updated to use SDHC cards, so if my guess is correct then your fix is to use the correct card type.
Another possible cause is if you have formatted the card via your computer. You must never do this, always re-format in the camera only. If that's what you have done then with a fully charged battery try to re-format the card in your camera, but sometimes this doesn't work and the card cannot be used in the camera again.
The final causes are that either the card has failed or that the camera has failed. The first can be fixed by replacing the card (many major brand names will replace them even if the warranty has expired), the latter is not a DIY fix and the camera would need a professional repair, but you can buy brand new, no-name, basic models of similar or better specification for far less than the repair costs to yours.

Hi i have a Panasonic d-snap, model sv-av50 but
put the camera on the dock or use the usb cable turn it on then push the switch below the record button in the downward position. your pc will then pick up the camera and install the drivers. I too spent 2 days looking for the drivers for this thing.

Difference between MPEG2 and MPEG4
To achieve MPEG2 video performance, large amounts of data must be written to the SD Memory Card in real time. The read and write speed of the SD Memory Card may differ from manufacturer to manufacturer, so we recommend using Panasonic SD Memory Cards with the high-speed transmission rate of 10MB per second (SD Memory Cards that are 256MB* or higher have a transmission rate of 10MB per second).
* FINE Mode recording (High image quality 704 x 480 pixels) recording requires an SD Memory Card that is 256MB* or higher.
* NORM Mode recording (Normal image quality 352 x 480 pixels) recording requires an SD Memory Card that is 32MB* or higher.

I'm connected through a 4-port USB hub
Use of a USB hub for connection does not guarantee normal operation. Try attaching the USB cable directly from the D-snap SD Camera to one of the built-in USB ports on the PC.

Serial number required for SD-Jukebox installation
The required serial number for SD-Jukebox installation is located on the paper insert inside the CD-ROM casing. The serial number is 10 or 11 digits long depending on the model. Without the serial number, the Jukebox software cannot be installed on a compatible PC.
