Turns off when i turn knob to take pic

Are you using regular alkaline batteries? However, it seems that the camera is drawing to much power or a crossed circuit. If it is under warranty, take it in for repair.

I DROPPED MY KODAK CAMERA WHILE THE CAMERA WAS ON

If you pressed it too hard in, you most likely damged some other parts in addition to the damage caused by dropping it. You need to take out the lense, inspect all the moving parts. Look for broken or bented part. The opened lense should mover up and down easily. Make sure all parts are clean and put the lense back on. Good luck!!!!!!!

Cyber shot dsc-p72 will not power on

This problem is inside the camera. Either power supply or main board. Something, most likely a leaky capacitor or faulty IC, is causing the battery sensor to see too low a voltage and shut down. It could also be the sensor itself.

Sony camera turning itself off...

You can't use regular alkaline batteries in this camera. Alkaline batteries only supply 1.5 volts. The camera uses 2 in series for a total of 3.0 volts from alkaline. However, the camera requires 4.2 volts to operate correctly. This camera has high power requirements, so you'll need high end lithium or nickel hydride batteries that can supply the higher voltage and current this camera requires. It's a power hog, and regular alkaline batteries are too weak to run it. The menus will work on alkaline, but once you try to turn the camera on in capture mode to take a shot, the current requirements to operate the camera motor, LCD, zoom, memory stick, etc, all it once is too great a draw for alkaline to handle. Either use the external power supply, or get Lithium batteries. Make sure the batteries you get are 2.4 volts and not 1.5 volts. Get the ones with the highest current rating you can find.

Sony Cyber-shot Digicams - Picture Quality !?!?!?

I'm assuming you purchased a Sony as replacement. If that's the case, take it back and ask for a new one or have it checked out. Something sounds horribly wrong to me. If by chance you got one of those Chinese/Taiwanese cameras. Give it away and go back to the P72. Of course, a few hours reading the manual and playing with the camera may solve your problems. Don't try to get fancy first off. Stick with Auto modes until you get a feel for what you're doing. If you are using Auto the go back to the first sentence :-) BMW
