It stands for "Focus Lens Error", and is a failure of either the lens connection to the circuit board, or a mechanical failure within the lens itself.

Black screen surshot camera

The camera has a recall issue, it's called a CCD sensor. Your problem is better known as the black screen of death. To date Canon is the only company that will repair this issue for free, Call Canon and they will send you a shipping label that you can print out on your computer and send them the camera and they will fix it and send it back free of charge. Canon has excellent customer support, I would never purchase any other brand of camera other than Canon because of the lack of other companies not standing behind product repair issues that are a result of poor design flaws on parts.

I have a Canan thats giving my problems too

Hi there.
Its possible the pictures are fine if you download them to the PC.
The fact that if you can see a ghost image on the camera indicates that the inverter has gone on the camera and it need to be repaired.
This can cost a lot of money to get sorted out, so if your happy to snap away and then transfer the pics to the PC then your all good, but if you prefer to see what pic your taking then a repair is eminent, other than that its a new camera.

Thanks for using FixYa!!

I TURN ON MY A70 AND I GET A VIEW OF THE LAST PICTURE I TO TOOK.

The camera is stuck in picture review mode. Try sliding the mode switch back and forth a couple times, and leave it in camera mode to see if this corrects the problem.

Canon SD600 Elph

When the lens will not retract and camera is not functional (no picture on display, and does not shoot) , and you already tried replacing batteries with a new fresh set (ensure please) , and then restarting camera with no memory card inside, then camera is faulty.

Try an easy fix by pushing gently the lens (do not force them, just help them) while you turn off camera at same time. Try also switching the mode selector.

If still no luck , then the camera must be disassembled to fix the problem.

Possible reasons are :

  • Faulty lens mechanism or jammed lens (camera usually turns off by itself in this case)
  • Main board faulty.
  • Ribbon cable to main board broken or connector defective.
  • If there is no power at all it is the connector from batteries to main board, this is also a ribbon cable.

If the camera is less than one year old will be replaced by manufacturer.

If your warranty is expired you can get an estimate for repair from manufacturer, or from a third party like Advance Camera here :Advance Camera Repair you can book the repair online.
