Batteries run out fast

If the recharageable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and graduallythe charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The batteryshows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops offto zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptablecharge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

It wont charge

You can't charge the A80 by plugging in a USB cable. The cable is for downloading photos only. Assuming that you are using rechargeable AA batteries, you need to remove the batteries and place them in an external charger to recharge them.

Pictures come out red or no picture at all

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager, and is a known defect for your particular model camera.. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free if you live in the US, Canada, and a select few other countries. If you live outside the US, contact Canon support for your country to see if they'll still honor the advisory (some still will, especially if you stress you knowledge that this is a known defect of the camera). They may also include free shipping both ways (free shipping varies with countries). This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please see this link for more info.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

The Adobe Reader is uploading

I don't know why you're using the Adobe Reader to download your pics. You should be using the software that came with the camera or software that is already on your computer. The easiest procedure and the one the pros use is to use a separate card reader. You create a folder on your desktop and using the card reader, drag and drop your picture files into the folder. Once there, you can view them, save them to places such as "my pictures", e-mail them, etc. typrice_152.jpg

Where can I get a replacement lead to download

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
