Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa (
http://picasa.google.com ).
If you insist on connecting your camera to your computer, would you mind telling us what program is giving that error message?
Kodak easyshare 1550 card reader trouble.
Not sure what skill you have, but I would try to use some air from a tin called duster (air under pressure for electronic equipment) and blow into the memory slot. I also would check with a little flash light if something is in the memory slot, something like a little piece of paper. When looking into the card slot, you should be able to see a little golden switch on the site the lock notch of the memory card is. If you tried duster and it can't blow it out what is sitting in the slot, use a plastic tooth picker (no wooden, because it could leave little parts in there and the cure would be worse than the illness, and try to get the debris out. Please if you do not have technical skills, don't start, because the inside of a camera is very delicate. You easy can damage the inside bend repair.
Screen is black
Hello, Sorry to say but it needs service/repair, nothing you can fix.

My kodak easyshare m883 camera turns on lets me change the time and date then cuts out
Hi,
please ensure that the battery isn't past it's expiration date- even if it's not been used before, an expiration m. And please ensure that the sd card does not have more data stored than was built for the camera to handle. If so, please transfer some data off of the sd card and then attempt to set the date on your camera again.
Thank you.
The screen and pictures are black even in light
Hi,
Please make sure that your camera doesn't have a black cover or tax over the lends. This would block any images from being stored whenever you attempt to take a picture. In other words, the camera wouldn't be able "to see". If you can't find any cover, please check that you've properly inserted an SD card for the camera to use and then switch modes (ie action, night time etc) until you see the area that you're attempting to capture come on the camera screen. Otherwise, you might need to get the camera checked at a store like BH Photo and video.
Thank you.
