I can only offer this: (sorry if it does not help) When the micro USB Cable is plugged into the camera you MAY be able to take photos. The camera MAY work normally EXCEPT for the MONITOR or Screen. The screen is TURNED off when you plug in the cord.

usually fast flashing charge is faulty battery its trying to get volts in to the battery. you see the battery has a charging board on the battery not in the camera the camera sends the volts to the battery and the battery tells the camera its voltage, and when at the right volts stops charging. but these batteries can only be charged to around 10000hrs depending on the type of battery. you see when you get a new battery you need to charge it before use, now this can be 6hrs to 12hrs for fist time use if you interrupted the charge or have a power cut while it charges it can damage the charging chip in the battery. if this does the flashing light on other batteries then the signal is not being read by the camera and the camera can be faulty on the charging circuit, usually (sometimes) removing the battery for a few hours can fix this but it will rest the camera. hope this helps you.

It flashes green when it is basically on but in a sub mode that I'll call CHARGE MODE. If it is flashing that means the battery is charging. I suggest to let it continue to charge until it stops flashing and then remove the charger connection. When the camera is sitting all by itself with nothing connected you can then turn it on.

Is it the screen, or the screen protector ? If the latter, just remove it and replace it. If it is the actual screen, first of all try a lint-free cloth barely dampened with distilled water, and test it on a corner, see if that works. On no account get the camera wet. If that is unsuccessful, try adding a very little diluted washing-up liquid, and try again. Should that not succeed, I would advise taking the camera to your local repair facility for their expert advice.

You have two main choices. Yes, you could buy a new memory card. But I find the extra small cards can be easily lost or misplaced. A better method is to transfer the images from the camera to a computer or laptop. It is also possible to transfer the photos through the computer or laptop onto an external hard drive with a much larger memory as a back up. Then you can re-use the card you already have.

Are you inserting the battery in the correct direction?

Hi Here are some suggestions to try and see where the problem may be: 1. Have you tried to charge the battery? We would suggest trying different USB sources (e.g. a USB port on a computer as well as the Nikon supplied AC adapter) 2. Could the battery be dead? If you have tried to charge the battery in the camera via USB then there is a chance the battery is dead and needs replacing. If the camera had not been used for a long time and the battery was stored with little or no charge, the battery may now be un-chargeable. 3. If the camera has been left unused for a long time the internal battery that keeps the time/date may have discharged. You need to be able to set the time/date before the battery can be charged.
