you will have to reset it and start over. Press the reset button until it shuts off and comes back on . Follow the instructions like you did when you first purchased it. You can give it a new security key, but you should write it down somewhere so you can use it whenever you need to.

You want to setup WPA, assuming the access point is new enough.

WPA with a Pre Shared Key (aka PSK) is what you want. This is often called WPA Home or WPA Lite or something similar. All a PSK is really is a password.

Look for this on your wireless setup menu. You should be able to set it there. There's a small chance this is on the advanced screen, although most have it on the normal screen. If you have a really old access point, you're likely going to only be given WEP options. If so, spend the $50 for a new one. You'll be money ahead in the long run... Since this is an 802.11b access point, that's almost certainly the case...

You probably dont need to get any cd, but here is a basic setup. 1. First reset router to factory specs..there is probably some sort of reset hole on the router. With router disconnected Stick paper clip inside and hold while you turn back on router about 10 seconds. 2. Next with computer and Modem turned off plug the Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN port on the router. 3. Next plug an ethernet cable from the router to the PC. 4. Turn on Modem, then PC it should get you on the internet. 5. Usually the Wireless portion is defaulted to ON, so knowing you have a wired connection, you can now try with your wireless device. 6. Windows will find this signal and it will give you an option to connect to it. When you get an IP address, you will be on. To get into more advanced setup, you will need to get into the router. Try It you should be alright

Hi!
I found the user guide for your device form HP's download page. You can click this link and just go to page 28, and it will give you the step by step instructions on how to setup WEP to secure your wireless networks. If this will not work or need more further assistance just reply to this thread. I hope this will fix your concern.

Hi Rbosley,

I found the real manual here,
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=218413&os=228&lang=en&

Second one down.
Are you using Cable, or DSL. DSL requires you to setup a PPPOE connection, putting in your Username and password for you DSL connection.
Are there any other routerrs on the network? Just making sure you are not trying to use the router then there is one already one on the work.
I would suggest your use the reset button on the back, resetting it to defaults. That way, you should be able to plug in your modem to the WAN port, plug your computer into the LAN port.
Then restart the modem, wait 2 min, power up the router, wait 2 min, and startup the PC. Make sure your IPs are set to automatically get IPs and DNS. The router's DHCP should supply them to your PC.
DSL requries you setup a PPPOE connections, which really just consists of selecting the pppoe option, putting in the infomation, and the doing all the rebooting.

It you still are having issues, get back with us!

Is the wireless switch of your pC on? if it is, then try to reboot your PC and the router. You should see one. Check also if the SSID broadcast of your router is enabled.

Opening your browser. Looking in your manual there is an instruction telling you how to connect directly with your modem. Type that address in, enter the user name and password it tells you. Then look through several of the option tabs it will display. There will be one that controls the "transmit power" level. Once you find it, change it to 100% if it something less than that. That should fix your problem.

Hi,

Click on the link below and download VLC media player >>>>>>>

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Try load the AVI in that. If it still won't play then you have wasted your time downloading a fake file.
A good idea is to read any comments left on the torrent site you use before you download any files.

Regards.

57-100 57-200, 57-300 or 400? there are 4 versions.
to what device? unstated and matters big time. BT head phones?
first is , it must have Bluetooth, most didn't then.
it was an option, then. (in fact many options)
most times its part of the wifi card inside.(and was)
or it did work before today (I lost)? means that?
then the HP Compaq driver is missing for it.
HP has it , if you download it.

the #1 cause of Bluetooth software driver failure is upgrading the unstated OS and there is no driver for that OS. (w7 to 10?)
what OS does your 57 run?
it came with windows 7, is that it?
the 57-100 PC has this driver.(Wild guess, no PC full P/N stated)
worse yet they offered 2 BT cards seen here(network drivers)
(what I do , lacking hwINFO32.exe is look at the card first.
see what is there. make and model. the pick the driver.

Depending upon where you live in the world, this may be perfectly legal...
On the other hand, you might have no recourse, but to buy another copy.

Might I suggest ebay ?

plz try by reinstalling the ethernet driver, if the problem is not solved then check with a working lan cable.if your ethernet card is working with another lan cable then your ethernet card is faulty other wise your cable is faulty.

You get many emails, especially if you run a business on the web. All of these emails are important because they are from your customers, friends or family. The ones from customers are even more important since they are usually orders for your products or questions about your business. Validate the email address before processing the order to make sure you can reach your customer.

Validate the email address by sending an email to the person who provided the email to you. If it bounces back to you, the email is not valid. Reach your customer through other contact information. Select the email address you want to validate at online validation site such as Broadband-help. Type in the email address or copy and paste it in the box on the page. Enter the validation code found on the page and click "Submit." Check results for the email address you entered in the "Results" box. You'll see a green arrow and the words "Valid email" for any valid email address. See the result for a non valid email as a red "X" in the results box. It will also say the words "Not valid email." Choose to validate a free email address at Ranks to find out if a free email address is valid. Enter the email address in the box and click on "Check." View results on the next page.
