You should delete the old wifi history that was saved. From your device go to settings then wireless then delete or forget the wifi name... then search for wifi again and it will ask you now to enter the new WEP key. That should do it

192.168.0.50 is the default address for your router, if router was boxed and new, this should be the router IP.

The router configuration must be done using a cable connection, cannot be done using wireless.

If you want to reset the router you can hold pressed the pinhole reset switch until the unit will restart, about ten seconds, this will reset IP to 192.168.0.50 . If router is irresponsive after reset and ethernet cable is tested and fine , then the router may be faulty.
You can call the phone number listed on the router manual to get online assistance.

If the router was not new, but had been re-programmed , the default IP may have been changed manually by the user, in this case do the following to find out the IP.

Click start button
Locate and use Run command
In the Run box type CMD, this will open command prompt.
in command prompt type: ipconfig /all

THe router Ip will be listed as 'Default Gateway'...192.168.......

You can also find IP by rightclicking on network connection, in Windows and choosing Status. ClThen clicking Support tab, and finding the default gateway IP address.

You can secure your wireless network wit WEP or WAP code.
For that Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.0.1
or
http://192.168.1.1
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.
Click on wireless settings then enable WEP Security then add WEP code .It is your password to connect wi fi.Then save settings and restart router.
Then you can connect your wi fi network with that code.

HAVE YOU TRIED TO RESET IT? SMALL BUTTON ON BACK BETWEEN ANTENNA AND NETWORK LINE.
YOU MUST SET THE IP ADD CORRECTLY.
YOU OPEN IE OFF LINE AND IN THE ADDRESS LINE TYPE IN THE IP ADD YOU PUT INTO THE DLINK.
A PASSWORD SCREEN DEFAULT WILL SHOW UP
[ USUALLY ADMAN IS THE USER AND ADMAN IS THE PASSWORD DEFAULT

You can find the details of the operator and the state they belong to .the operators wont reveal the address and name of any mobile numbers only higher officials can only get those information.

I am sure it is now toast and you cannot downgrade if the wrong firmware has been installed. I would ask D-Link.

the manual is free , at dlink dot com you push the reset button for long time per manual 15sec (iirc) the release it and now all defaults are set. per the manual, google dir-655 manual. easy as pie if you just read the manual.

There's a reset button on the back of the router, it's a small button that you can press using a paper clip. Press it for 15 seconds to reset it.

Reset 1:
Press the reset button for 15 seconds at the back of the router while the router is on.

Reset 2:
Press the reset button for 15 seconds while the router is on after 15 seconds unplug the power cord while holding the reset button then count another 15 seconds and release the reset button. Then plug the power cord back in.

Reset 3:
Press the reset button for 15 seconds while the router is on after 15 seconds unplug the power cord while holding the reset button then count another 15 seconds and plug the power cord back in while the reset button is plugged in and count another 15 seconds release the reset button.

go to dos prompt in a windows pc and type in ipconfig and press the enter key to find the default gateway address it might be 10.0.0.1 or 192.168.0.1 these are the most common. Type the ip address into internet browser to log into the gateway router. There will be an admin user name and admin password. It might be the default or it might be written hopefully on the router case/ try Username: cusadmin Password: password IP Address: 192.168.0.1 http://www.cleancss.com/router-default/SMC/SMC8014WG if you get into it look up wi fi security to find out the wep key or wpa key
