Connecting your switch directly to the modem instead of to a router is not a recommended practice. A router has Network Address Translation (NAT) and Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) which are important built-in security features ( i.e. a firewall). The router also gives priority to certain types of data so that VOIP phone calls ((internet phone service) and streaming media (Netflix, YouTube, etc.) are not interrupted or degraded. As far as I know your switch lacks these features which may then cause problems for some users when the network is busy.
Yes for sure you can do that.As the connector is RJ45.The only think is that for Thomson you need a cross-wired cable to connect to the netgear JFS524. If netgear do have Uplink port then you can use normal or straight through cable. For more infor Cross-wired cable are use to connect between network devices.

First verify the password you are trying to use is correct. You can only legally obtain this by asking for it or if you know it because you own it.Second, sometimes ipod touch and iphone don't like changes. First go under General settings and Wi-Fi, then select the network, choose to delete the network. Exit back out and then go back in General, Wi-Fi and choose to connect it will then ask you for new password and if they match then you will be allowed to connect properly.
