WnFax PRO will automatically detect USR chipset and use the preferred init string for the modem. There isn't really a list of init strings to use.

There are some tools to help you uninstall WinFax completely at www.getfaxing.com , however, you can perform the manual installation which takes a bit of time :

WinFax PRO is not compatible with VISTA, so it is recommended you uninstall it.

This happens if you have an NVIDIA NView setup. You might need to add wfxmod32 , wfxctl32 to your NVIDIA application settings to disable all NView functionality for these programs.

WinFax Tools has many fixes for WinFax that are automated.

This could be one of many things, but my first suggestion is this.

Open up your Device Manager:

Right click My Computer and select Properties - click on the hardware tab - click the Device Manager button.

Inside your Device Manager check to see if your Modem has a yellow or red icon next to it...

If so open the properties for your modem and click on the resources tab. This page will tell you if the devices IRQ number is conflicting with any other devices.

If the IRQ number is the problem try changing it, then re-booting your computer.....

Looks like you may need some drivers! Go here to find them, all in one download for your convenience. Select the appropriate operating system, fill in the captcha, and select the US or EU server to download from. If you need further assistance, don't hesitate to send a reply.

You need to install the drivers from this page. It's very simple, make sure you pick the according OS, which is Windows XP in your case. Then you need to enter the captcha code and select US or EU server to download from. If this is only partial to the software you need to use the N1996, feel free to respond for further assistance.

You can probably find the software on the manufactures web site and download it and run the software from the .exe file. Without knowing the model number of the Wireless Adapter I have no way of looking for you, but the manufacture should be able to provide it via download.
