TV won't turn on
sounds like the flyback which can cause a either a sqiealing or a wispy hissing noise.
THE TV WENT POP, SPARKED AND WENT OFF
the flyback or CL031 are the usual causes with that chassis doing that. Usually CL031 will burn a hole through the deflection board its located about two inches in front of the Flyback transformer.
Won't come on when the house is cold
Hi,
Seems like a problem on your power supply board.
You local repairshop can fix that by using some ice spray.
Thats about -60 degr. C, you can easily find the faulty part with the temp. problem.

When turning my tv on the light flashes on but
Your convergence IC's have burnt out.
Ask yourself this:
Is the Tv worth saving? is it bright and clear? was it good (when it worked?)
if the answer to all of these is yes, then you have a few choices. If any of these are not true, then you should just get a new tv.
Your choices are:
If you are good at soldering, then you can attempt to replace the IC's yourself. (with all of the parts handy, it should take 1 hour)
If you aren't good at soldering, then you can have a friend do it for you, or you can have a mechanic fix it. (tell them that its the convergence IC's that went bad. (pay no more than $200 for the job).
here is what they look like:

(the number may be different)
Here is an idea of what your tv looks like on the inside:

(btw, to disconnect "those" all you have to do is lift up underneath where the white thing bridges the two boards and they will pop up.)
A word of the wise, do NOT open up your tv and attempt this if you don't know what you're doing. There is extremely high voltage inside, even when it's unplugged......so don't get shocked!!!
If you need more info on replacing the IC's, contact me.
Thanks for asking!

My RCA 52
There could be a huge range of problems. I'll do my best to give you the key things you need to check.
Make sure that your house fuse is rated to take the power of the TV.
Make sure that it has it's own designated power outlet since it takes so much power.
Please do not plug the TV into a power strip unless it's rated for the TV and other items AND it has a surge protector.
Bigger issues:
A fuse within the TV could be blown; this needs a professional from your local TV store to replace and (sorry) could be a little costly depending on where you go.
Your power cord could have an internal disconnect and may need replaced.
It could just be as easy as getting a bulb replaced. A professional may have to do this for you if you don't know how. Personally I wouldn't try it because (get ready for a personal lesson learned) I took a tube TV apart to replace the power cord and I layed my arm over the metal portion of the tube and gave myself a pretty good shock. Left a burn mark for quite some time and I still have the scar to prove it.
Issue that has contradicted my previous solutions:
It could be getting too much power and is using an internal safety switch to prevent the TV from overheating and/or overpowering.
Good luck and please rate my solution accordingly.

The green light comes on
This set should try 3 times to come on and then fail---it is called the 3 strikes and you are out (RCA/GE sets have this).
There are two fuses(one at the cord has to be good or no green light) and another on a smaller board near the front edge.
If both fuses are good you need to look for a short on the Deflection board--this is the board with the tan or black HV transformer with a large red wire coming out of the top of it.
There will be some fuse devices that do not look like fuses right next to it; they will be brown in color with location numbers printed on the board like FL2601 etc--FL means fusable link.
It will require having a OHM meter to look for a short---the problem with these sets is the boards are no longer available except on an repair/rebuild basis---if the problem can be narrowed to one board and not found the only way to fix is to remove the board and send it out for repair.
Clearly, I do not know how much skill you have with a volt/ohm meter etc but if you do I would be willing to point to the things on that board you need to look at.
The best way to begin is with the back off---do a close visual look of that board for any burnt or discolored parts---this is the easy way to narrow it down.
Also with the back off have someone turn the set on and listen to hear if the High Voltage comes UP--it will be a brief whoosh as it comes up--keep hands out of the set when you do this---Safety first!
Let me know what you find; frankly, this is not an easy set to work on and has several common problems--some are worth fixing and others are not.
let me know what you find and remember I am here to help.
I am in California and usually here to assist between 10 am and 10 pm PST.

Replace the deflection board or power board.
www.tvrepairworld.com has the parts for the RCA/ GE itc 222 series TVs. You ccan also call them and they will assist you in determining which one you require.
Rear projection TV won't turn on even when the light is lit.
Your TV is really a RCA it may say GE,but its RCA CK capacitors on deflection board cp150 if it is puffed up on top it is bad also has 2 more in same circuit replace them cp114 cp120 cp150 is 2200uf 16v others are 220uf 35v.resolder all pinns on FBT,FLYBACK TRANSFOMER, make sure second ribbon is connected good.you have 2 of them that connects to SSB board.
Blue crt leaking fluid, what causes this. is it an
I don't recommend attempting to repair a leaking CRT. The coolant is corrosive to the circuit boards in your TV. The coolant does not leak out under any ordinary circumstances. If it is leaking there must be a crack or some other break in the housing. I wouldn't trust any repair. The CRT should be replaced. Sorry for the bad news.
TV takes several attempts to turn on.
THIS SOUNDS CRAZY BUT I JUST DID IT ON MINE AND IT WORKS!!!! REMOVE THE LOWER REAR CASE ( ITS THE LARGE BLACK PLASTIC COVER WITH THE VENTS ON SIDE ABOUT 15 SCREWS IT WRAPS AROUND THE LOWER BACK OF TV) USE A HAIRDRYER AND HEAT UP THE LOWER LEFT CORNER OF THE GUTS(AS LOOKING FROM REAR) FOR 5 MINS OR SO THEN TURN IT ON. MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG UNTILL READY TO TURN ON
I have a GE 52
If the convergence option is still visible under the picture settings in the menu. Then the problem will usually be related to the convergence power supply board, which is the board on the far left which is suspended over the main chassis. You can get the convergence power supply board, or have yours repaired at

I have a projection tv that has a module that
Most likely in the high tension module some wires are too close to the board - move the components apart and put some ceramic insulators. But in any case fix it quickly or you risk burning your house down.
