Kenwood VR-6050 Receiver - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

It usually means something is drawing too much current---a short inside the unit----idea is to prevent a chain reaction that frys half the unit.

Consider having a shop look at it and do check to make sure all the connections are correct.

The following are the best I can do without specifics re: your TV and other TV-related equipment.

Since a TV without an antenna is rarely the source of any programming it is best to feed the receiver the best sound available from the device where it originates - cable / sat / DVD / BluRay / games. Your receiver probably has plenty of inputs to accomodate al of these. I also run the video directly to my TV, which has several video inputs, from each source because IT deserves the best unadulterated video.

If you have a cable box and want the best sound, get it directly and digitally from the cable box and run it to the receiver. Then leave the TV's speakers off for critical viewing with good sound.

This is a problem with the output transistors that power your speakers. This is a problem for a professional unfortunately.

Kenwood sound units are probably market leaders in most parts of the world because of the durability and high standard of their products. When loud screeching sounds and static is are heard on sound systems in most cases it is as a result of poor wire connections to the speakers. Check the wires to the speakers most likely the screeching and static is coming from those.
Also static could also be caused by mobile devices being close to the receiver. Mobile devices such as internet modems and mobile phones as well as radio transmitting devices could cause static and screeching.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

that reciever is not going to carry a hi definition video signal, it doesnt have either hdmi or component video inputs.

you can still use it, but if you run the picture through the reciever, it will have poor quality.

heres how you are supposed to hook it up:

find the single,m yellow video jack on your sattelite box, and hook that up to the "tv" video input, then hook the laft and right audio outputs from the cable box into the "tv" audio left and right inputs on the receiver. hook up the dvd player and vcr in the same manner, using "dvd" and "VCR" (if labeled as such) inputs on the reciever.

finally, send the tv video and audio outputs to the composite video in and left/right audio inputs on the tv. the video will be running through the reciever, and when you use the reciever to switch the sound source, the video will also be changed. you could get better picture quality if you ran the video directly to the tv using component (seperate green, red and blue) outputs/inputs, and bypassing the reciever on the video end, but then you would have to change inputs on the tv AND reciever to change from your cable box to your dvd player.

To an extent. Sound-wise, yes. It has 5.1 analog inputs.

It will be one of the drive belts , its better to get a repair shop to replace both belts , i have tried replacing belts myself and they are fiddly and time consuming , if you keep playing it the way it is you will damage the motors that turn the belts

you may have a dc condition present on speaker outputs. this could be caused by dry solder joints, suggest blanket resolder of the output stages for front channels.

Hi David, if your Kenwood does not turn on, check the power input fuse, to locate it, you should remove the lid
If the fuse is burned, replace it with only one of equal value, to avoid serious damage, if you change it and it starts to burn, look for a specialized technical service
I hope you can solve the problem
Greetings Franco Dosil
Hola David, si tu Kenwood no enciende, revisa el fusible de entrada de energia, para ubicarlo, deberas retirar la tapa

Hello JoncoteO, if one of your Surround speakers does not work, you can not use the Front B speakers connection as a replacement
You should check if the output of your Kenwood is wrong or the speaker is wrong
Try connecting the Surround speaker that does not work, in the Surround output of the Kenwood that works, if you listen to it, well the problem is in the equipment
If you do not hear it, the speaker has the problem
I suggest you repair it, since you could have more damage
I hope you can solve the problem
Greetings Franco Dosil

Saludos Franco Dosil
