Panasonic TH-42PD50U 42 in. Plasma EDTV - Page 8 Questions & Answers
Picture will start fading in
Hi.
4 blink is power board SoS. The problem is either a faulty digital board or a faulty power board.
A way to troubleshoot the error is reading if the pin 12 of connector from power board to digital board is high immediately before shutting down. If it is high , then it is the power board, otherwise the d board.
A different thing is if you get 8 blinks, in that case the problem is the sustain board (8 blinks = sustain energy recovery).
Test and repairing must be done by a technician.
If you need parts , or if you want a quote on repair, try calling the number listed on the user manual.
As first troubleshooting try leaving the power cord disconnected for about thirty minutes. This will drain power held in PSU board capacitor, and can fix minor problems concerning power board.
Regards.

Red light blinks ten times
10 binks with no turn on is a power supply problem, u will need a service rep to run a full diagnostic of the tv to figure out what parts need to be replaced.

HELP! Our panasonic plasma is
Hi,
This is a fairly common problem. usually it is about a 40$ board that needs to be replaced. Now that isn't always a 100%. It could be a more expensive part that has caused the cheaper part to break. In that case the next part is about 400$. Then I would probably recommend purchasing a new tv rather then repairing the television.

If you have any other questions please let me know.
Thank you,
Lee

I have a Panasonic TH-42PX50U
Hi:
You must replace the Y-substain Board the PDP chip on this board is starting to fail, sooner or later you will hear a some what loud pop and the unit will not power up because the chip on the Board has failed or shorted, this could also cause power supply problems down the road.

Th-58pe75u line in the middle from top to bottom
You could have one of three problems. One is really expensive to fix and you might want to trash the set. Thats if the panel is bad. Secondly, it could be a buffer board that went bad. Not as expensive as the panel. Finally, it could be the connection between the two. I would first take the back off and locate this board. Undo the ribbon cable and clean it off a bit and put it back. If its still there, you have a deeper problem.
The buffer boards are located across the bottow when you take the back off. About 3 inches wide. Sometimes they are on the top as well.

On our tv there is a code. The tv will not turn on
You starting point would be to look at the SC, SU and SD boards. Maybe (Very unlikely but possible) the panel. You would need to know how to trouble shoot those three boards to know what board you need.

My tv just has a black screen I get audio but no
The tv needs the X/Y sustain boards serviced or replaced, it could also be the buffer or DC supply also. Take it back if its under warranty, if not have your local shop service the tv for you...
