Sony Xplode P5 Turbo Subwoofers Car Speaker Questions & Answers
My subs sound choppy
Sounds like your sub is "clipping". Clipping is when your speaker is trying to pull more power than the power supply. (head unit, amp) If it sounds good at a low volume and choppy at high volume, supply it with more power. Bigger amp. If it sounds choppy all the time, push gently on the middle of the speaker. It should go back and forth smoothly. If it feels rough, you have blown the coil. Replacing the speaker is the fix for that.
NO SOUND
is this a new installation? check your wiring's
Car 6-9s soud crappy with new deck
what do you mean? distorted? low? echoey? i know you checked the wiring but try one more time. did you use a wire harness? remember the speaker wires out the radio with the black line on them is the negative side. make sure whatever color wire from the stereo that you plug to the car factory wire to, and know if it was positive or negative when you go plug it on the speaker.
Just had a response on a problem ive got with my
Hello again empsglen,
"If the sub voice coil is open, you will get exactly no sound. No crackling, nothing.
Use a multimeter to check the sub voice coil. If the meter reads infinity, the coil is open and to the amp, it's as if there's no sub connected, and you will need to replace it."
Sorry about that.
OK, my clarification assumes that you know how to set a volt-ohm-milliamp (VOM), or multimeter up to measure ohms, and that you have such a meter or have access to one.
The voice coil is the part of your sub that connects to the amp output and causes the cone to move in and out in response to electrical signals. If it is open (broken, burned) there will be no electrical flow and the cone will not move. A good voice coil will read a resistance (impedance) on the multimeter. If the coil is open, the meter reads as if it wasn't even connected (infinity) and if the coil is shorted, the meter reads zero (dead short). Simply put the meter across the speaker terminals and read the results.
Hi ive just bought a 2nd hand sub n amp, wired them

Subwoofer power but no sound
sony suks.is it a powered sud?if not take any battery and touch the leads on the speaker if u get a sound speaker is workig.
My subs won't work anymore
Hi heres a simple test check that the wires to these speakers is not just broken or cut , easy check would be to disconnect the wires and test with a Multimeter against each pair of wires , or better yet a simpler test is an AA size battery across the speaker wires should give a crackling sound , that will show you that they are good . If these 2 fail , your speakers are blown.Surprisingly an overpowered amp will blow speakers much easier than one thats not...It will cost you quite a bit ... .
Sony CDX-M850mp isnt playing any audio from aux or cd input
This issue might be due to a malfunctioning auxiliary input or a problem with the amplifier circuit. You can try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:
- Check the connection between the auxiliary input and the head unit to make sure it's properly plugged in.
- Check the audio cable for any signs of damage or wear.
- Make sure the auxiliary input is selected as the source on the head unit.
- Check the amplifier circuit to see if it's functioning properly. If it's not, the amplifier may need to be repaired or replaced.
If these steps don't resolve the issue, it's recommended to have the unit inspected by a professional audio technician.
What is the correct way to hook up a 1000 watt Sony xplod Amp with 1 subwoofer to my Sony mp-40
To properly hook up your 1000 watt Sony Xplod Amp with one subwoofer to your Sony MP-40, you will need to connect the subwoofer to the amplifier using RCA cables. Once the subwoofer is connected, you will then need to use a power cable to connect the amplifier to your Sony MP-40. Make sure the power cable is connected properly and that the amplifier is turned on. After that, you should be able to adjust the settings on the amplifier to get the desired sound from the subwoofer.
My Sony GT90BT car radio is not working. No power on display.
Hi,
usually one uses a power cycle in order to reset the radio. If the radio is not coming on, the wires powering it could be bad so you'd want to check them with a multimeter for current. Then, you'd want to test the car battery to see if it's still powerful enough to support all of the devices in your car. Then you can get the radio checked.
Thank you.
My Sony car radio keeps scanning but wont hold a station?
Did you do anything around the rear window glass? That is where the aerial is unless you have some other type of antennae. There is also a connector plug under the dash behind the radio. Your signal isn't strong enough for some reason. Have you tried switching between FM and AM channels.
