I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.
Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV
up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors.
Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although
were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of
preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected
due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.
Hope this helps

Service menu codes are known to the mfr and the service provider. By chance if you get it in the Google search, you can make use of.
But operating the service menu without noting down the settings, there are chances of in correct settings. this will lead to a worst condition.

Sony tv power drop
Try connecting the TV directly to a different wall outlet and check. If the issue persists, try power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue persists, then the TV requires service.

Hope you have adjusted with your remote. Even with this if the problem repeats, there may be resistor gone in high value or open.
Try the circuit associated to red gun ( cathode of the picture tube). If you have a digital meter, switch OFF TV and give a check on all the resistors. Check whether any value is changed to higher side.
If you notice any ohmic value changes replace them with identical type.
If variable potentiometers are provided try adjusting them. But note down the orginal position.
If it is service mode adjustment, contact SONY service center as the service pass word code is known to them only.

When i open my tv sony trinitron it will open only
You have a fault in the power circuit which triggers the power to switch off. this could be possible in the poweer cirrcuitt and hence you must be able to trace this out. Open the set and using a heater blow hot air to the power circuit. this should be done when the set is cold and maybe the fesh day. if the set comes does not come on, then you have some semiconductor/electrolitic capacitors which are defective or weak. change them one by one in this circuit after using a meter to test the voltage. If +b is absent then the freq trigg for the smps is absent, check on the optocoupler/ the transformer solderings. Attempt to service only if you familiar with electronics and power related electronics.this could be dangerous if not aware of the voltages. Hope i could help. Good day

TV SONY KV-21FV10C7
the tuner has three components in it. rf video, audio and carrier, so your sound is not seen at the separation of signals.
1 inject an rf of 5.5 Mhz on the rf in put, if the audio path is good a tone will sound at the speaker. if you dont have a sound then you should tune a coil drum on the audio separator stage.
the 5.5 Mhz is off frequency.
try that.
thanks for asking fixya.

Yes, The tv has no vertical deflection, Unplug tv,locate IC1509,Q1505 with a ohm.meter in the ohm. posistion, if faulty, replace them, the way to do that is on the board you will see the letters C=collector,B=base E=emitter, put the meter on dioed scale, take the leads from the meter and touch one to the E and one to the B at the same time, now reverce the leads to the same E and B ,if it reads in both directions its bad......unsolder with desoldering iron and replace it with same or sub. resolder

Hello
You can use a VCR as a tuner if you tune the TV to the VCR. for instance channel three or four, however you have the switch set on the back of the VCR. Then of course you would connect any antenna or cable into the VCR and use that exclusively to tune your TV. Better yet, if you have a line level input to your TV you could connect the VCR with RCA jacks (the red, white, and yellow) and then you would enjoy a sharper picture.

Sony TV - Display problem - goes ON & OFF
I agree that it does sound capacitor related, capacitors which are failing like this will often show themselves by the top of the capacitor becoming convex, some are easier to spot than others. If not you should be able to narrow it down to a few on the powerboard and then use an esr meter to identify the problem cap. Obviously this assumes you have experience with tv repair, if not best not to open it as there can be high voltage present even when the tv is not plugged in
