HONESTLY, looking the video over, this is NOT a job for a rookie. There are LOTS of things to remove, cables to disconnect and just getting INSIDE will take lots of time and patience!
I actually never did see where that battery is just 'fishing' within the video... and no, I did not watch the entire video because 'things' simply got TOO TEDIOUS... I mean even the KEYBOARD needed to be totally removed as part of the process.
SOME laptops have poor layouts and designs and THIS happens to be one of them. Now a true 'expert' with lots of 5200 experience may disagree. Personally I have been inside many laptops but this one I'll leave to those experts!

There are some points to consider:
1. It could be that your computer is restricted from the school's wireless access point.
2. It could also be that the wireless adapter is old and might be needing an upgrade.
3. You could also try to re-type the school's wireless password in your computer is there is any.
Hi,
If you re-installed the XP on the computer. You can check if the wireless adapter is recognized. Just follow the steps below:
Click on start
Right-click on My Computer and choose properties.
then click on Hardware tab and then device manager.
Next is on the device manager. look for other devices.this where the wireless is usually located, try to look for Other Devices on the list, and under it there should be Network controller. with a question mark. That indicated that the wireless is not yet installed.
What you need to do is to log on to Toshiba Website to download the drivers using a different computer and you also need a flash/thumb drive to transfer it to your computer.
Hope this helps. THank you for using Fixya, you recommendation is highly appreciated for the free support.
Did you press a button (or move a slider-switch) on the WIN7 laptop, to "disable" the wireless adapter?
Can you login to the web-server "inside" the wireless router, and look at the "log-files" that the router keeps of "recent" events (such as connection-attempts from wireless devices), to see if there is any useful information in those logs?
Does the WIN7 laptop connect to _any_ wireless network (Starbucks, university, shopping mall), or does it fail ONLY when connecting to your wireless router?
Have you tried a "factory-reset" on your router, just in case that it might be the problem?
I would contact Toshiba immediately and let them know that you experiencing that issue.
Depending on how they repaired your screen they could have accidentally damaged the motherboard or forgot to connect the wifi cables that run along side of the lcd back to the card.
Hi,
Please make sure that you have turned on the wireless switch on your laptop because this is a message that usually appears if the wireless on the laptop is disabled. Also please update the wireless drivers for your laptop from the Toshiba website.
Thank you for your time and best wishes for your effort.
depending on the model you will have a wireless LAN switch - this will be turned off - typiclally the switch will have a small satellite receiver icon.
They can be in different places on different models but typically they are on the front.

ARE you using the adapter utility to conncet to the wireless network. If you are using the adapter utility then try to switch over the windows utility ( for WIn XP and Vista only) If you are not able to see the network with the windows utility also then try to uninstall and reinstall the adapter.
