20 Most Recent Sony SLV-675HF VCR Questions & Answers

Hello
Check whether the take up spool reels the tape pulled out by the pintch rollar. If not, the tape ribbon will wind up to drum motor and will be spoiled. you says that the FF function is alright but the REW not. That means there is some sort of trouble with the mechanism. First check the belts. It is best to check after all belts have been replaced. The silicon rubber belts used will elongate with time, and will not pull the gear mechanisms to proper positions. This will result tape curling. If the take up spool does not wind up the ribbon pulled by the pintch rollar, be sure that the cletch mechanism has some trouble. It can be repalced, after disassembleing the mechanism. To do this job, you must have expereince in disassembleing and reassembleing the VCR mechanism. It is not an easy work as you thinks, There are positions for each wheels. An experienced only can do this. You just check the simple things that I've stated earlier. If even replacement of belts does not help you, get it serviced by Sony Authorised Service center. The belts can be bought from most of the electronic sparepart shops at your town. You ahve to give the exact model number of your VCR. They will give you the exact kit pack. Belts can be repalec by yoursef. But do it very carefully. OK.

You should have no trouble getting a universal remote to work the basic functions: power, tape motion, etc. But you may have problems with advanced functions such as programming or accessing any special features the model may have. Often only the original remote has all the buttons needed. Universal remotes don't usually give complete control. If you're just looking to play tapes, you should be good with any basic universal remote that.

You have this backwards. The applicable code would be in the URC, if it is compatible.

if possible. reinstall your vcr code in your existing remote.
consider using another remote [ set to your vcrs code ] -- remotes sometimes low cost at dollar / thrift stores.

Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. The site has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. The site has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Set-up code list to many brand remote controls also is given. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily.

Programming Notes
• If your device does not respond to the remote after trying all codes listed or your brand is not listed in the code list, use the Auto Code Search method to program your remote.
• Sometimes the first code that "works" with your device may operate only a few functions of your device. There may be another code in the code list that performs more functions. Try other codes from the code list for more functionality.

This is a trial and error procedure; and quiet time consuming. You might have to check different codes said for your device.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; to which you want set-up codes; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window" to get gathered related posts.
{View the site in web view by Mobile or a desktop to see the search box. Mobile view has no search box.}

It will be difficult to make a Blu-ray player region free. Anyway, visit these sites, and see whether there is any information about this.

Hi Laurence, from what you describe, it would look like a power supply failure, like you say a loose solder
I recommend that you be careful with the manipulation of the source plate, since there may be loads in the capacitors
When you remove the back cover, locate the plate of the power supply and look for the input capacitor (s), to discharge them, then carefully check the solders that may be loose or cracked
Also note the low voltage capacitors, those on the secondary side of the source, that are not swollen or with the top open
After reviewing and resolving the source components, reassemble and test
In some models, you also have on the Main board, small subfuentes, try to locate and review them
If after doing all this, you do not have positive results, look for a specialized technical service
I hope you can solve the problem

Saludos Franco Dosil
