I'm sorry that the pictures on the TV screen is black. Based on the information you have provided, it appears that the issue is with the Lamp itself. The lamp of the TV may have to be replaced within two to three years depends upon the amount of usage.
If the screen becomes dark, the color looks unsual or the LAMP indicator on the front of the LCD projection TV flashes, it is time to replace the lamp.
Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require further assistance in replacing the lamp of the TV.

Hi,You are experimenting the most common failures on sony sets:"Light engine problem" basically your tv uses 3 LCD chips that are like tiny screens that create the image and colors. When you get lines like what you are describing its affected by those chips.I will suggest to contact Sony, sometimes they are willing to repair it or give you a certain deal ,since they were in a law suit for faulty light engines.

This is a defective Optical Light Engine. Normal costs to replace is around $750.00. Not worth repairing in my opinion, but the choice is yours.
I have a Sony KDF-WE655
NO... More than likely, It is an optical block problem. Sony has had this issue on Many models!!
And has had several Class Actions mediated. I'm not sure if yours has settled yet. http://sites.google.com/site/sonylcdrptvproblems/
Check that link and then contact Sony Customer support. They are actually pretty easy to talk to regarding this issue. Hope this helps!

bzohar,
The number of flashes could be helpful to diagnose your problem. I have tips for all the Sony problems. Just do a search for "Sony TV Error Code" and the number of flashes written out and you should find what you need.
Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

It could be that your lamp is misaligned - if it is not shining directly, the picture may still display perfectly well, just dim.
It is also possible that the power going to the lamp is decreased.
If replacing the lamp did not solve the issue, it's likely a power problem, and that will likely require assistance from someone trained in the filed.
My Sony tv model number
must be the lamp getting burn out, if its a rear projection tv it has a lamp which has a lifespan. try to contact sony.
Hi, I have a
Hi dfremenar,
Continuous blink of the led light was send by IC3208 pin 29 of C2 board which is the lamp protect error code to avoid overload of the ballast board because the lamp was already burned out. It seems that the newly installed lamp has a short burning life. First ensure the connectors from the lamp is securely attached. If the symptoms still persist, this is a confirmation that the real fault was came from the lamp itself. I would advice you to obtain the replacement lamp from your local authorized Sony service center or parts dealer to get a much high quality of lamp. The symptoms will remain the same unless the lamp is replaced with new one.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

Sounds like a bad optics block assembly. The part number is A-1606-008-A but the repair cost may exceed $1000. I don't know if I would advise that big of an investment at this time.

Hello
Five consicutive blinks at a time and the stops and again blinks five; is its self diagonosis procedure. All modern Sony sets has this function included in its circuits. If the system control IC inside it detect any fatal fault inside its circuits system, it will give a signal to its power control unit to shut it down its high voltage outputs to protect the other components from further damage. In your set; as Sony describes; I quotes:-
Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.
Actually the components marked in numberes will not be the same as in your TV. But the fault will it be.
If you have enough knoledge in electronics and have a concept of soldering and have a good quality multimeter; youreself can do this work by home. OK
