Protector flashing
This happens to me too... I have a DTR 5.4... Worked well for a couple of years... Now it is shutting off when I have the volume up too high... Although, sometime it just does it at random.... Very annoying...
How can I plug my
Least expensive way is thru a 1/8th" mini to RCA adapter into any of the Sony's audio inputs. If you want "Video" as well, that's another story. You would have to check with "Apple" to see if an adapter is available. No "Dock" port on the receiver. Hope this helps.
The protector light comes on
The receiver has a short in the audio output stage in at least one channel, the parts must be replaced to bring it back up to normal operation.

Relay click and Protect display indicates that receiver got problem in output amplifier section and most probably output chips got defective. This kind of problem is not user level repair and local repair shop will help you to get it fixed.
Thanks.
Can I hook up a photo turntable to a sony str-de435 receiver?
If your turntable has an amplified output, go ahead and plug it in to the aux port. If not, you won't be able to use it with your receiver properly. Look on the back (or front) of your turntable for a knob labeled "level" or "volume", and that will determine if it's amplified or not. Good luck, I hope this helps!

this is not a reset problem, you have a defective audio output, is either the outputs transistors or the drivers IC's ( integrated circuit) and sometimes if you are lucky is just loose connections on the drivers IC;s.
good luck

This usually means an output transistor is shorted and the amp is protecting itself. There are usually 2 8 amp fuses GMA type (glass tube) that are located near the large transformer on the main board that also get blown. You can try the fuses and see if it fixes it (10% of the time it will). If they blow again, it will be one or more output transistors are shorted, and the unit will need professional repair.

Protet mode is a special diagnostic mode that starts when a fault is detected.
When in protection mode the unit is prevented from starting by protection circuit, so to prevent further damage.
Check the speakers and speakers wiring, a contact in speaker wires, or faulty speakers can send the unit in protection.
Try unplugging power cable for one hour or so. then connect cable back
and see if you get rid of protect state. Sometimes accumulation of
electrostatic charges inside circuit capacitors can kick in protect
mode. In that case unplugging the unit from main for some times can get
rid of electrostatic charges, and reset circuits by draining power
completely.
If that was the problem, you will not get Protect when plugging back power cable.
If you do all the above and still get Protect, then there is a real fault.
In that case the unit may be disassembled and tested to find the fault.
If that is the case I suggest contacting the manufacturer at the number
listed on the owners manual, or asking a quote on repair to a local
technician.
