you need to set up the vcr clock and then setup scheduled recording as per your VCR manual. This is usually found in the VCR menu accessed with the VCR remote.

If you meant to conncct the RF out of the VCR to the RF in of the TV then mostly the RF outputs come in the bands VHF1 CH3 or CH 4 . Also it comes mainly set from factory in the UHF CH36.
Iff there is interference in your area due to local channel the channel can be shifter by trimming the modulator.
So tune the VCR accordingly or Use the AV inputs, video out to video in and audio outs to audio in of TV.

have you tryed to clean the ace head??? The ace head means audio-control-erase. and is on the right side of the mechanism. this head looks like a big cassette type head and is statioary. This head can be cleaned just like an 8-track{remember those??}or cassette head by applying rubbing alcohol to a q-tip and clean the head from top to bottom. this head also may need cleaning if your tapes seem to speed up and slow down for no reason and at random. Thats because the lower part of the head is the control head and that gives the machine pulses to tell the machine what speed the tape is recorded in then the capstain motor has an fg sensor(freqency generator} and they all go thru a comparitor and the sum of both pulses gives the machine the proper speed setting. as i am aware of you can only tape sd programs on to vcr and not hd.

This is common for this player. if you need the tape, send it to the shop because parts inside can break.

it could be dirty pinch rollers causing the tapes to tighten and be ejected. try fast forarding the tape to the end and rewinding. if this does not cure the problem, run a wet cleaner tape through.

The short and simple solution is to tune the VCR to the channel that the cable box is set to (4), and then tune teh TV to the VCR's output channel (3). If you do this you should be able to see the Cable channel through the VCR tuner and then record. Any other solution would require figuring out how to set both the VCR and the cable box to the same channel, but it sounds as if you have ruled out any possibility of being able to do that.

Go into Menu /V Chip arrow key up to tv rating should show all locked volume down or visversa should should view all Note may have to volume up to get to options from menu depending on how old the tv is.

There is an option in the menu which changes the tuner from cable to antenna (off-air or broadcast) mode. On many/most late VCRs, you must have the remote box to access these functions.

Old VCRs (15 years +) might have had a switch to make this change.
