Leave the TV running, go over to your PS3 and turn it off.

Once its off, hold the power button down till you hear a beep, KEEP HOLDING THE POWER BUTTON till you hear a double beep. The PS3 will shut itself off.

Give the device a couple of seconds, then hit the power button one last time (just turn it on, you don't have to hold it).

If all went right, your baby is back up and running...

ok , first you will need to check the controls panel on the front board, take it out of there and make sure that the buttons are not being pushed on and check the sensor for a short or open also the contact switches are not making continuity(short) then also unplug the controls panel from the main board

hi there, you have a capacitor prob. at the vertical section., see the vertical section and repalce the electrolytic capacitor with in. do some check up, test and cleaning. ty

Remove the cover on the back of the tv. Look for swollen or leaking capacitors. They kinda look like batteries. If they are bulging or leaking then that is your problem. You will have to de-solder the old ones off. Then solder the new capacitors onto the circuit board. Capacitors will cost about 20 dollars and installing them isn't that hard to do. It will fix your tv 99% of the time. So it is worth a try!

I'm assuming that you have checked that the sound is not muted. To confirm that a reset to factory settings is the next procedure: Menu - Setup - General - Factory settings. If you don't see/hear any modifications then it's a hardware defect, not something with the settings.
This happens when the tv thinks that the headphones are used. Simple test to confirm that: plug in a pair of speakers and see if you get the sound on them. If you get and the situation doesn't changes when you unplug them then this is a mechanical defect: the small switch inside the headphone jack is faulty and keeps signaling that the headphones are plugged in when they are not.
The only way to fix that is to replace the jack, which involves a very delicate soldering procedure , one that only a good repairman can do - you must call one.
