Hi
The voltage for a backlight on an LCD TV is "200 - 500 volts" .
Try to tighten or reseat any connections behind the TV, and to the set top box.You may have fried some circuitry in the TV. Static discharges can fry the microscopic circuits in semiconductors and eproms.Since your TV stopped working immediately after the discharge you may have done some damage. Or, you could have merely 'hung' the microprocessor. To check for the latter, unplug the TV from the wall socket for a few hours. Overnight is best. This will allow the circuitry in the TV to reset. Then plug it back in and see if it will start.
If it still won't work, it will need servicing .However unplug it and drop it two inches to the cabinet it's on. Power up and see if it will be more stable
