I wonder what batteries you use? The best would be two AA rechargeable NiMH batteries. But a new CR-V3 lithium battery should work also. When you have rechargeable batteries, you should check if they are charged. And when inserting, check if you did out them in correct. Only the CR-V3 is protected for inserting it wrong. when you have two batteries, you can put them in the wrong way. Then, if you did not use the camera for a long time, please make sure all contacts in the battery compartment are clean and shiny. If not, try to clean them, with a clean cloth. Never use anything sharp in or close to a camera. Contacts, could be rubbed with a little electronic contact oil, but the oil must be removed afterwards. As strange as it may sound, even the contact oil can be cause of oxidation on contacts. When the batteries are in, make sure the battery door is correctly closed. If you checked everything and you are sure the batteries are in correct, just try switching on and of several times, by opening and closing the lens barrier. Also while the lens barrios is closed, press the play back button on the back side of the camera. If both don't work, then again the batteries are under suspicion.

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

# Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
# 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
# 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
# 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
# 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
# 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

Take out the card and you will see a little switch on the side of it push it in the opposite direction and you should have unlocked it and thus enable to use it.
