If you can't find such on your machine, then it's either disabled, the BIOS is out of date, the OS doesn't support your USB (Examples abound!) or other. I cut my time loss by adding an USB PCI card.

Actually this is on page 80 of your manual. Called Macro shooting, you can come as close as 2.8".
When the mode dial is on most settings, you have to press the little button above the display with the flower several times. on the display a flower should be visible. To come close to a subject, put the zoom in wide angle.
Actually, if you read it from the manual it will be very clear and saves me about half an hour typing. The menial is still available online for free.

you may have to remove a few screws and seperate the case a little to slip it in. Some plastic is flexable and it can give a little. If it doesnt look broken that could be good.

Yes, and you should try photo recovery software, here are some you may rely on. Both programs can also recover videos and music.

Photo Recovery Software (for Windows)
Mac Photo Recovery Software (for Mac OS X)

Be careful: Before your pictures are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the camera memory card in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Windows Photo Gallery or any other photo cataloging program.

Try to get it repaired from a camera store. If the only other option you have is tossing it away, you can just as well take it apart and see whether you could fix it- you likely will be able to fix it: since only that button is not working (not the whole set of buttons around it) it's probably a small problem like a slipped contact in the switch- which just about anyone can fix. good luck!

Your camera can use two types of power either four AA's or two of the Olympus type CR-V3 batteries. If you don't have batteries for it now I'd suggest purchasing a four battery set with charger and an extra set of four rechargeable so you have a total of eight rechargeable batteries. That way you can be using a set of batteries while another set is on the charger.
Hers is a diagram of the battery set up for your camera.

1. Clean the broken area.(remove all material which will not help for next steps) 2. Draw a tiny hole close to that area, (Please take some visual measurement for the position to draw that hole). 3. Put a tiny screwer into that hole.
The head of that screwer to act as the fetching part of the original plastic one.

Hi, The camera is rated to take cards up to 256mb so that rules out your 1GB card. Try confirming the 128meg card works in a different camera.
