Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos.

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV may shut down after having the above symptoms.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick email and they will put one together for you. Their kits includes photo instruction guides, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Chirping means the power supply is being loaded down by a short in most cases, likely a bad convergance IC

Hi!
I will say that you probably still have the clear liquid (Glycol) still on the board. I recommend cleaning with a degreaser spray and brush it off with a clean 1inch paint brush. You can get the spray at Radio Shack The glycol is hard to remove and is conductive to electricity.

I would check the regulator transistors and then the horizontal output tarnsistor.

Typicaly you can remove the SSB board on the left without having to remove the flyback wires. If however you are trying to remove the entire deck all at once you will need to remove the flyback wires as indicated.

You do not need to use needle nose pliers. Goto the site www.TvRepairKits.com and click on the "Tips" menu. Under that section you will see instuctions on how to remove the HVG/flyback wires.
Hope this helps,

Each color (red, green & blue) has an amplifier IC (STK-).
When there is a convergence issue, the first step is change both
IC's for reliability. Then check for open fuses devices, usually
pico fuses.Then re-check convergence alignment.......T.

Look on the Techlor website. They are suggeting that the color convergence resistors be replaced when the ic's (392-120/150) are replaced if these are discolored. They also recommend using only OEM replacement parts.

in the back of the TV, there is a controller that you can use to manually set the strength and focus of each color.

crt coolant it tube is contaminated with a orange like fungus which is orange in color new coolant is needed.

Philips 60PP9352... | Answered on Oct 20, 2008

you need to replace both because they are both linked together with the green as each IC controls one color fully and half the green, so when one IC fails that places a strain on the other IC through the green, so that one will soon follow. You need two STK392-120 ICs and you will also need four 6.8 ohm 1 watt resistors. You can get replacement ICs and resistors at the following link with free installation instructions with pictures so you can do the repair yourself. Heres the link.
