if you dont have an internet connection
first you must have an ISP Internet Service provider which will provide you with a modem and leads you can choose either a dial up,usb,or an ethernet connection to connect to the net or if you have a laptop you can choose a wireless usb modem which can work on a desktop aswell once you recieve the modem just insert the disk provided and follow the prompts to set up your new internet connection hope this helps

Was the operating system installed on another computer? Or a computer with different hardware? If so the drivers for the hardware are not configured properly on the HD or in the BIOS. If this is the case you should format the HD and re-install the OS.

If you're operating a 32 bit system, the full 4GB cannot be utilised, so around 3.5 or so will show. If it's less than 3, then you may have faulty RAM.

Try removing and re-seating processor. Check your CMOS battery for correct voltage, Reseat memory ( check Clock speeds are the same. ) Last check your power supply for correct voltages.

There is a difference between puting a computer to sleep and switch it off. When asleep, (mostely used on laptop) everything stays in RAM and the computer is feeding the RAM, so everything stays correct to be used immediately. When you switch off the computer, in Windows, goto the logo in the left corner, click (left button of the mouse) and chose shut down. On the MAC there are more options, but I give one:Go to the little apple on the left corner of the screen, left mouse click and in the mene chose Shut Down...I hope this will be of any help.
