I have never burned a
Well, in my opinion all burners are the same, don't worry too much about the brand or model of the product since the life of the burner is the "reader/burner laser" make sure the lifespan of the burner is long, some of them have up to 400000 hours of useful life, most burners have the lifespan time in the manual, some printed on the box, I recomend to try to get the sweet spot between lifespan and price. Make sure you have a good burning software like nero.
Hope my solution helps.
Have a nice day :)
I can't eject disc
If this is the first time this happened, sometimes a particular disc will cause an error and not want to eject. If it is a permanent problem, you may have a bad motor or gearing for the tray eject.
You can either try unplugging it and replugging it and seeing if it ejects, or see if you can right click the drive in windows and select eject. Lastly, you can also eject the disc by pushing a paper clip in the hole on the front.
Please leave feedback if you found this helpful.
Why do dvd burn so
It takes awhile because the USB interface in between the drive and your computer is a good deal slower than the interface an INTERNAL drive has connected with the motherboard, especially if you're using USB 1.0 interface. Don't worry, they are implementing USB 3.0 right now in new computers and in a few years Intel will have an interface called "light peak" which will be much faster because it is fiber optic instead of electrical.
For now you'll just have to live with it, or replace your motherboard with one that has USB 3.0.
Can my memorex mvdp1075 connect to computer to read a data disk?
an old portable DVD player. IT IS.
and you want to use it as slave to PC, well does it,
does the manual cover that, ?.
but no PC stated by you making any guess, wrong. easy.
https://lmgtfy.com/?q=memorex+mvdp1075+manual
page 13 in your manual; stated, it only connects to TV
but we all know that some PCs have S-Video input jacks.
if the PC is desktop and you add the card that has that , that is.
NO PC told, there fore no possible answers , not exact and what parts to buy to do that.

MRX-250PH-SLVR
external 2.5": HDD .
yes and no. (no means PnP is magic)
but no PC stated, and posted to computers not TV nor Cell phones.
so in windows world of PCs we have internet working first
and then plug and play can actually work.(function).
then on your unstated PC try all USB ports, some crummy old laptops have only 100mA of current on USB ports and fail to run the motor with weak power like that.
NO PC stated. see?
The next thing I do with USB connected, is listen to side of case for the motor inside to spin, if silent that means the USB port is dead. (or drive is dead but I test the drive on other PCs so know it is not dead.)
ok it spins.
then disk manager is next, go there, and give it a drive letter.
if not done this step , explorer can't see the drive.
above manager can not see the drive, then use Device manager.
if missing there?, this external drive the USB port is dead or Microsoft does not support this drive or the drive is dead.
learn to test devices like this on 2 PCs to learn If it is good or not first. no lack of PCs on earth so have at it.

How do I clean the laser on a Memorex CD mini stereo with a 3cd changer
It is not even sure your laser is dirty. Perhaps you only have some bad CD's?
Does it also skip, with real music CD's. I mean the ones that are not burned in a computer. Not all self mad disks are good enough to be played and not all players can handle the self produced disks.
The cleaner you could use, is a CD, with a little brush glued on it. Don't try to make one, just buy one.
See the little red bus to the left of the middle.
