Need verbage on jumper settings for Master/Slave,
Hello,
There are three jumpers on the back of the unit marked MST, SLA & CAB or something like that.
If it will be the only drive in the system you are putting it in connect it to the black connector (or if they are not colored to the end connector). And use the MST (master) jumper.
If it will be the second drive connect it to the grey connector (or if they are not colored the second connector from the end) and use the SLA (slave) jumper.
Note that there can be only one slave and one master drive on the cable so if there is already a drive on the cable check to see if it is set up as a master or a slave drive and set the new one as the opposite.

when you installed it, did you put it on the same ide cable as another drive? if so 1 will need to be set to slave and 1 to master. that can be done from the black pin on the back of the drive
It reads CDs, but DVDs: "Please insert a disk in drive.."
DVD SOHD-16P9S drive doesn't read any kind of CD or DVD
hi,there is no problem in drivers .
check the hardware parts
there are 2 possibilities in your case
1.the laser beam which reads the dvd or cds is malfunctioning
2.ensure that the cable & buses are properly connected
..
in case laser beam is damaged you got to get it repaired for proper functioning
all the best
