I do not know about this machine but one of the most noted problems for machines is software and firmware updates needed to keep them up to date with computer systems they connect to. Paper wont feed through on my canon fc224

On these fax machines the most component that gets the most usage are the feed rolls.
Even though they are hard to find and hard to reach, using a flashlight one can view the surface of the feed wheels. By inspecting the surface, they may appear to be shinny instead of the normal feed wheel surface tracks.

Either the wheels need to be replaced or cleaning the surface might get a little reliablity, eventually they may need to be replaced.

Some feed wheels have a lower or they might be on the upper part of the drive train, where they have a square rubber pad.

This is especially true with document feeders, the most common part that wears out.

These pads or, arm tips wear out and need to be replaced.
I hope this helps out.

The paper feeder in this

Hi,
Technically, your machine is jammed. The paper is jamming as it exits the feed area, and enters the machine. Not being specifically familiar with that model, but rather based on experience with other similar machines with like problems, I would say you should look for 3 possible causes...
Most machines have, shortly into the paper path, and generally in the area you're indicating, some sort of sensor switch, whether it is photo-electric, or a mechanically activated toggle, that senses and registers the lead edge of the paper so the machine knows it did feed. This switch could be knocked out of place, or simply dirty, and not sensing the lead edge of the paper within a certain period of time after the machine registers the feed had been actuated.
A second possible cause would be (and you may be able to visually verify this) is that usually, in these types of machines, there is some sort of pressure or "******" pad/roller in conjunction with the feed roller. If this isn't working right, the machine may be feeding more than one sheet at a time, and becoming jammed in the paper path area due to "thickness".
A third possible issue could be an unremoved scrap of paper from a previous jam (or a staple/paperclip/piece of rubber-band/or any other foreign object, as I've seen them all) still remaining in a thin and obscure position of the paper path blocking the paper's progress to the abovementioned switch.
The original feed rollers are often internally spring loaded, or spring-loaded clutch driven for one way feed drive. Common problems are that the spring may have become "mal-formed", or dried up (they are general greased/lubed mechanisms). In either case, dis-assembly of the feed drive mechanisms for replacement or re-lubing is probably going to be required.
Try cleaning the rollers in X4270 printer. You may need to clean the scan lens and the white roller.

1. Unplug the power cord and the phone line from the wall.
Open the control panel.
2. Pull the roller lever forward, and then lift the white roller out of the All-In-One.
3. Use a clean, lint-free cloth dampened with water to wipe the white roller and the scan lens.
4. Reinstall the white roller.
5. Reconnect the power cord and the phone line.

Faxes coming in print fine but outgoing faxes

If outgoing faxes are turning up blank on the recipients end, you may be putting the paper to be faxed in backwards. Outgoing faxes should be sent face-down. If you are sending properly, either your scanner is failing (test it by copying a document) or the recipient is having fax issues on their end.

Busy, try later error won't go away

depending what rollers and how you did it, you probably have 'spun' a clutch out of position so it can't find it's 'home" position, and keeps on trying. If it worked before cleaning and now it doesn't you've definitely broken or dislodged something like that.

Whether paper jammed?

give this a try
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.

Will not fax or copy - Given error light

The thermal roll is basically a roll of 'carbon' like paper that is used to transfer the image to your paper (terrible technolgy, and a massive waste of money for the end user....but that's another story)...it likely needs replacing -it's only good for 300-400 pages.
