VHS is good enough, why should I care about DVD?

No CD sound on Philips DVD/VCR player
When a CD is played there is no sound unless the fast forward or reverse is pressed. DVD's have sound.

DVD
My player freezes I have not used this much as I did not have any DVD's when I bought the system.

No picture
I put a dvd or CD in and get no picture or sound. Vcr tape the same way.

DVD light stays constant dim red (orange).
The cyber home dvd when connected to power, does not glow to red, it remains orange and DVD player is not operational....
