With those two pieces of information (VIN and Serial Number) call the service department of your local VW DEaler - they should give you your code for free. Sometimes the code is on a stick on the top of the radio, but I am guessing that if you have found the serial number, (usually in the same place), you lucked out on that. (Getting to the top of the radio usually requires special "keys". available on ebay for $5 usually..)

I have a SEAT Toledo, year 1999. The radio has been blocked ever since the battery was changes 6 weeks ago. I have the code but on the LED I see only "SAFE". The "PROG" button will not work. How can I unlock the radio and use it again?
