Conexant Rockwell Modem Questions & Answers
Accidently uninstalled sound device driver - but restore was turned off
Go to Computer>Properties and go into Device Manager. Under Sound, Video and Game Controllers, you will see your device listed with a Question Mark next to it, see if you can right-click and check for Driver Software. If it is Conexant AC97 or Conexant HD, you can easily download the installer from various sites.

Need download cd for modem/soundcard
Hi,
You can try & proceed to HP website (http://www.hp.com/) and go to the Software & Driver Downloads (left side near the bottom).
You have to determine the specif model/version of your HP computer which might look something like "HP Pavilion 4550Z"
From initial indications you would be looking for an Internal Modem/Sound Card that was originally set for Windows 98SE. Chances are that it is a Conexant or Rockwell SoftK56 Data,Fax PCI Modem, with Master Riptide PCI Audio Device.
Post back should you need additional information. State your PC's model.
Good luck and kind regards.

PC does not find modem
Remove the modem from the pci slot, uninstall the drivers you installed, shut down your system. now place the modem correctly in the pci slot( you can use the other pci slots also). strat the system with the driver cd in the cd drive. after logging in windows will display found new hardware screen, select yes this time only, on the next screen select automatically search for drivers, windows will search for the drivers automatically and install it if you are prompted to install a driver not signed by windows click continue installation. In case windows does not find the necessary driver, dont close the window or press the finish button, instead press the back button and come to the screen were you selected "automatically search for drivers, select manually search for drivers, and on the next screen click the browse button, navigate to the cd drive and select the correct driver inf file for the, you will have different inf's for different OS's, so select the correct os driver inf and proceed with installation, windows might say that the driver is not correct, you can still install it and give it a try.
good luck
Kindly POST back with your results

I don't know my modem brand
A Conexant modem is made by Conexant Systems. They are software modems usually built into laptops or as modems included with desktop computers. If you are looking for the driver start with your pc manufacturer's website and if you cannot find it there you can try searching the web. If you have a more specific problem update your question and I'll be happy to help you.
