Why do you make the image suddenly 2 times smaller? This will give a major problem with pixel allocation in any program. The image should be completely fine if you resize it to the right format, but that's appearantly not what you want. GIMP automatically scales pictures pretty well from the moment you export them from a CXF file.

This has something to do with copyright, trademark and Gimp can't use it. That is the only way I know how to use it is to save it to the Gimp format, then open a program Photo Shop maybe, and convert that way. Gimp is a great program, it's a shame we have to do this. Puzzling. The "real" answer probably has to do with the location to which the file is saved, the command used to save the file, and the file type. That said, I would first try locating the file using the freeware application Everything (allowing it time to index the files on the C drive). It should reveal the location of the file which you should take not of. And it will tell you the file type. You should be able to drag and drop the located file into the opened Gimp application. That event should confirm that Gimp can read the saved files (and that such are not corrupted.) Gimp may simply be configured to not look in the directory where it is saving files but rather to another location. Gimp by default saves pictures in a file format unlikely viewable by other picture displaying programs. This forces a user to export it to more standard file types via the use of Gimp plugins. I had the same issue, due to opening a file from a SSD card previously, which was no longer in the PC. Clearing my recent documents history fixed it. HTH!
