Replace Both of your STK ICs they are big black IC will have part # on them example STK392-110 also 2 resistors low ohms 2.7 ck them Call Mats for Parts 1-800-628-1118

you need new convergence chips, part number stk-392-020 or stk 392-040, very common problem, it may also have blown micro fuses, you need and ohm meter and some soldering skills to fix this.

Yes its a very common in Samsungs to leak CRT coolant onto the boards that drive the CRTs. Most repair techs will automatically check for leaking CRT coolant on Samsung and mitsubishi simply due to their history of that problem.

JUST GET MAGNET AND TRY TO PASS IT BY THE SCREEN, OR GET IT CLOSE TO THE MESSED UP COLORS, I HOPE IT WILL HELP, LET ME KNOW IF IT WORKS

Very commonly the power supply or high voltage sections fail in these. The tubes in projection sets also go weak and cause failure.

If the set is more than 5 years old it will not be worth investing any money in to it. TV's are not very expensive these days. You should buy your son a nice TV set that he can enjoy. The LCD and Plasma displays will far outperform any of these older projections sets.

you wiull have to check it with a meter if its getting short the meter will show zero reading other wise the faulty low reading.if thats the case the part has to be replaced. you can get the required parts at www.radioshack.com or at  www.partstore.com

This is a convergence problem that can be as simple as bad connections at the convergence ICs or defective ICs. If you can solder and anre comfortabel working inside the set, you may be able to repair this yourself. Let me kow if you wish to attemp the repair and I'll provide additional details and instructions.

You need to open and clean it carefully.

1. remove the back bottom panel
2. Remove the top back panel (carefully the mirror is on it)
3. Clean the mirror and the lenses (on the mirror don't use products with ammoniac) "a good tip is to use same staff to clean photographic cameras"
4. Place back the top rear panel
5. place back the bottom rear panel

I have the same TV with the same problem. This model have a defective chip, the chip just burnt out. It burnt out on me a bout 2 years ago and it just burnt out on me again last month. It cost me $300 to replace it both times. This model sucks, I will never buy a another Samsung.

Check for CRT coolant leak on PCB.Clean spill, try again to verify.
