Why not use the SD card slot on the calculator? Use an SD card formatted in FAT 26 or FAT 32 of not too large capacity, say up to 2 GB. Using a computer, transfer the program on the card and store it at the root of the card: DO not store it inside a folder.
Once the program is on the card, remove the card from the computer and insert it in the SD card slot of the calculator. Turn calculator on and use the file explorer of the calculator.
Press Green Left Shift followed by the APPS key to enact the Files explorer. Navigate to the root of the SD card, copy your program and drop it in one of the three internal memories. IRAM, ERAM or FLASH

Welcome to FixYa!

Here's a list of things to do if your HP49G calculator does not turn on.

1. Replace the batteries. (which you have done already)
2. Press and hold "ON" then press "+" several times, then release "ON".

If chacracters still doesn't appear in the main screen, reset the calculator:
1. Press and hold "ON" then press "F3", then release both keys.

The calculator should reset. If not:
1. Insert the of a metal paper clip into the hole at the back of the calculator. Insert as far as it goes. Hold for 2 seconds then remove the clip.
2. Press "ON".

If that does not fix the problem, the calculator needs to be serviced.
Note: always use alkaline batteries.

I hope this helps.

Hello,
You should get a USB cable.

If you do not want to, get a Secure Digital card (formatted in FAT). Turn calculator ON, Insert card in slot.
Then [LeftShift][FILES] Open the directory where files are. Select them and use the [Copy] soft key to copy files. Got to directory where you want them copied and Copy rhem there. Exit File Manager. Remove Card and insert in SD card slot in computer, etc.

If you install the latest ROM 2.15 (hpcalc.org) the USB transfer option in IO parameters will show.

Hope it helps
