try letting it sit for 15-20 minutes unplugged from the wall and maybe try another outlet depending on if u got plugged in to a power strip, possibly pulling to much power from that perticular outlet.

Hi, these units do this as the protection circuitry in the Switchmode power supply unit has detected a prospective catastrophic fault, and has shut the system down to avoid a fire and explosion or both.
As for the DVD sometimes there is a little hole in the front tray a straightened paper clip or the like maybe inserted into said hole and pushed in until the draw opens, if there is NO hole, then the only way to eject, is to disassemble and wind the tray drive mechanism by hand.

Above is your service manual should you wish to DIY? below is your user manual.

in reality though the best bet is to contact a local or head office of Toshiba, and ask for a referral to an authorised service center, now when here, ONLY first ask for a "Quote" as to prospective repairs and costings and go from there? many many units these days that I get in my shop are simply not economically repairable and replacement is the only answer, if the repair costs are too high?

I would look for bad (cracked ring around pins) solder connections at the vertical output IC. Do not let play long with the line present or it will burn a trace across the face of the picture tube and you will never get it out.

This is well known problem with the Toshiba line, the problem is in the vertical deflection circuits, it causes the picture to collapse to a flat white line, the vertical output ic and two to three capacitors need to be replaced to correct the issue.

This is no doubt an internal fault. Tube failure is very rare on this TV.It seems to be a problem with any of the boards present inside. I have seen more often it is a problem with mainboard. If you have electronic repair experience, could read schematics and would be able to keep all precautions, i would be glad to provide some pointers. Calling a tech is not a wise option as the repair cost could be more than half the amount of the TV.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

This is a very common problem in these sets. I would recommend taking it to a certified repair shop. What normally happens is that the x-ray protect transistor starts to "leak" (electricity, not fluids) and shuts the unit down. The repair is not too costly.

If you can turn it back on with the s momentary key or power button:

When it shuts off, do you need to push the power button once or twice to get it back on? Also, does anything else about the picture or sound change as it warms up?

If once, then the controller is shutting the TV down either as a result of a (thermally induced) fault in the controller or it sensing some other problem. Monitoring the voltage on the relay coil (assuming these is one) could help determine what is happening. The controller thinks it is in charge.

If twice, then the power supply is shutting down as the controller still thinks it is on and you are resetting it. A couple of possibilities here would be low voltage or high voltage regulation error (excessive high voltage is sensed and causes shutdown to prevent dangerous X-ray emission). A partially dried up main filter capacitor could also cause a shutdown but there might be other symptoms like hum bars in the picture just before this happened. Clipping a good capacitor across the suspect (with power off!) would confirm or eliminate this possibility.

If it uses a pull-knob (or other hard on/off switch), then this may be like pulling the plug and would reset any abnormal condition.

You will have to disconnect the TV from the AC outlet for a few seconds(10-20) then reconnect the TV and press power. You should get the start up menu after you get a picture. What you have to do is use the vol up/dn , chnl up/dn keys to select the autoprogram setting after chosing from cable or antenna signal. the enter key should be one of the DVD keys either play or stop or some other key, you'll have to experiment a little with it. There is an owners manual available at retrevo.com in case you need it, but I am posting a brief description stated in the manual on how to do this. check thje following
the power reaching your switch via a fuse and power out of the switch, when switched on.
if the power is leaving the switch okay then check the power supply components
semi conductors, for leaks and shoots, zener diodes, and capacitors for variations and change of values especially electrolitic capaciturs. if you get a high voltage of 85 and above going to the transistor near the transformer, then check your line trasistor.
