Hello, my name is Steve. And are these brand new or compatible 3rd party refilled or compatible in cartridges you are using?
It is the print cartridge nozzles.
The problem is there. if you were to replace the in cartridges as a set, you will have solved 80% of the problem
The other 20% would be a bad logic board....no replacable parts for this printer

Have installed printer why am unale to print test page?
1- the paper size is not Semitic which means that the computer sends a size which is different from the one in the printer. you can change the size from the properties of the printer.
2- the printer cable , make shore that the printer cable is all right .
3- you may installed the wrong driver , make shore that you have installed the right driver .
I am wondering how I can tell if the cd for setup was installed. how do I tell
I had the same problem trying to download a manual. They list it, but when you download you get an .exe file that goes nowhere. I'd contact customer care about that.
As for your no print problem, it sounds as though you are out of ink. Try cleaning the print head, gently, with plain water, using a lintless rag. If, when you print, you can hear the print head moving back and forth, as the paper comes out, your drivers and computer program is/are working okay. You can see what Canon software is on your machine by going to Windows Explorer (NOT Internet Explorer) and looking for Canon software. Go to "all programs" and look for Canon. You may have to look under C: program files. I hope this helps.
