GB4308 Ghosting

The cost I don't know, but this can be fixed. There are generally 3 lamps in projection T.V.'s, Red, Green, and Blue. They have to be aligned for the TV to project a clear picture. A credible TV repairman should be able to fix it. Depending on if it's new enough to be under warranty they may cover it as well. Really the only reason to get rid of it is if you want to get a new TV anyway. Depends on the cost of having the lamps aligned.

No power

I also have this television and the power just went out. But, before there was a smell. I did not hear the pops. The television is 3 years old.

What do you suggest. What could be the problem. It appears that others have had this problem.

Blue screen with random horizontal lines

OK to help assist everyone having the BLUE HUE and CURVED LINES Issue on their Rear Projection HDTV no matter their model. Here are the steps to take. The first thing to check is the FOCUS BLOCK or G2 Focus Transformer or CRX F-Pack. I have replaced mine, however it didn't resolve the issue. I am onto the next item the CRT Board for Blue (Which is the board under one of the three color lamps inside your tv) Please see photo below (if photo is not large enough below go to link to review notes as well) If the CRT Board is not it, then the next step will be the Signal Board which is a larger board in the back. In a week I will have a picture of both.

INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Remove the outside cover
  2. Remove the wood plank/panel
  3. In the front is the G2 Focus Block/Transformer, while set is on turn the top 3 knobs till the screen goes black/dark grey.
  4. adjusting the colors till you receive the desired or normal color/picture.
  5. Once you have received the proper color/picture tap the side of the Focus Block.
  6. IF The colors go out of wack again and the blue comes back strong then this "CAN BE" the Focus Block.
  7. NOTE: IF the color stays stable, then you problem is resolved and you do not need to replace it.

Replace the G2 Focus Block aka Focus Transformer, if Hitachi it's called a CRX F-Pack. This item will cost about $50. Not expensive. You will likely need a soldiering iron. DO TURN OFF & UNPLUG THE TV WHEN INSERTING ANY METAL OBJECTS INTO THE TV!!

FOLLOW THE PHOTOS/DIAGRAM in link below for assistance in the above instructions. I will post my next process since it was not my Focus Block that was an issue.

Black screen

Most likely suspect would be a bad solder connection. The connection heats up and becomes an "open" circuit like turning off a switch, and then as the set cools down the connection "makes" again allowing the set to come on. Parts should not be required as I consider this brand to be a "disposable" TV.

SHOWING RED

It sounds to me like you have a convergence problem. Most often when it changes after warming up it is still at the point where no parts may have to be replaced. However you must not use it any more until repaired. The way to fix the set is to unplug it and remove rear cover. Find the large metal heatsink(s) that have convergence ic's mounted to them. Number on ic's usually starts with STK. Then you must get to where the pins of these chips come through the board. Use caution when handling board and mark plugs that have to be unplugged. Anyhow, on the underside of board just resolder all pins of convergence ic's and reassemble set. It's really not that difficult to do but you have to have solder and a soldering iron. Most repair shops will charge 100.00-300.00 to perform this repair so with a few supplies you can save alot. Good luck, Russmann.

Apex gb4308 multi colored horizontal bow in middle or screen.

This is not an "STK" problem. Your problem is VERTICAL. You need to check your vertical chip for damage CN301 and check around it for any bad parts or loose connections. I've seen loose connections on the chip itself cause it to self-destruct.

Apex gb4308 43in problom

From reading your question i have decided this isn't something you have any hope of fixing yourself. Take the TV to a service center/technician they will be happy to fix any "vertical convergence" issues you may have.

Convergence IC's replaced, still won't converge

I had a similar problem. Purchased a rptv second hand. Got it home convergence was off (was OK prior to moving it). Turns out it was a dry solder joint. Check underneath the conv pcb.
