If it is like this it has a 4 stroke engine, so just gas in the tank. Oil goes into the crankcase.

Exhaust pipe white smoke, indicating that the fuel into the cylinder did not burn, but under the influence of a certain temperature, the formation of fog and steam. The most frequent causes of white smoke in exhaust pipes are low temperature, air in oil routes or water in diesel oil. If the temperature is low, the white smoke will be eliminated when the temperature rises. Strictly speaking, it does not count as a consequence and does not need to be dealt with. If there is water in the air or diesel oil, the exhaust is characterized by the high and low speed of the diesel engine in addition to the white smoke, and the unstable operation. If white smoke is emitted from individual cylinders, it may be due to cracks in the cylinder head bottom plate or cylinder sleeve, or poor sealing of the cylinder gasket due to leakage of water into the cylinder.

If your generator engine is running but is producing no or low output, the circuit breaker is the first thing you should check. The breaker is a safety feature designed to automatically switch off if a surge of electricity or overload is detected. A surge can be caused by using a device that draws more power than the breaker is rated for, using multiple 'heavy load' devices at the same time, or if a short occurs within the circuit. Some breakers will have colored indicators to show if they have been tripped, but some will not give any indication at all. Cycle the breaker off and on and try the outlet again. If the outlet is still not working, confirm that the breaker is set to the on position and use a multi-meter to measure resistance on the lead wire connections on the inside of the electrical panel. If any resistance is read, than the breaker is good. If the meter reads 'OL' (overload) or Infinity, the breaker is bad and should be replaced.

G'day mate.
I'm not familiar with this gen set, but assuming it is gas/petrol, it sounds like the motor side is quitting without even connecting an electrical load, correct?
If so, check silly things first. The 2 prime suspects are too much, or too little fuel....

Too much fuel - Is the choke still closed??? If it will start fine when cold, but start to chug and cough as it warms up, this is highly possible.
What about an air-filter? If its dirty and not breathing well, a dirty air filter will act just as if the choke is still on.

Too little fuel - Is there a fuel petcock/valve, and is it open 100%? If its just 'cracked open' and dribbling fuel to the carb, the fuel bowl can fill while its sitting, then start up and run great for a short while, until the fuel in the bowl is starved and then it will just cough/puff to a stop until bowl refills.
Also, is there a fuel filter that is clogging perhaps? A classic problem like this sees the motor start and run sweet for a minute or 2.....until the filter picks up all the crud again, which in turn starves the motor of fuel.

NB if the 320 on the model no refers to a 320 KW(!) unit, then it is almost certainly a big diesel unit, in which case the above is null and void ;)
Good luck!

Why My Generator Won't Produce Electricity

1. The residual magnetism of the generator core is disappeared or too weak.
2. Excitation circuit wiring error
3. Excitation circuit is blocked
4. Circuit for DC side of rotary rectifier is interrupted

What areyou plugging in? You should be able to run 6KW no problem. Try running lighter load first and build up in stages.

Is there any inline fuses that may have tripped. I had a similar problem many years ago and I needed to have the internal windings restrung / rebuilt. After this procedure my unit ran flawlessly and even above normal spec outputs
