Sharp AL 800 Copier Questions & Answers
Only part of copy prints
When you receive a partial print there are usually only a few things that can cause it. If you were using it as a Laser Printer and printing from your computer check the following : 1) Toner Cartridge - typically easiest to check and solve. Its either low on toner, empty, or the imaging drum had gone bad. Either way, you must replace the cartridge.2) check and see that the cartridge is seated into the printer properly and all connections are being made (pull it out & re-seat, then check copy)3) The part of the printer that is responsible for fixing the toner to the paper (ie..the Fuser, the part that gets hot) might have the surface of one of its rollers worn out and will cause that condition (high usage?)4) The other is an internal electrical condition, which I will not attempt to broach in this medium. To involved for most.If on the other hand you were using as a scanner/copier, there is a posibility that the scanner board (imagine board) has gone out and will need to be replaced. Try replacing cartridge first.....it usually does the trick. Good Luck!!
Contact number for technical support for AL-800
You can find information here:
http://www.sharpusa.com/CustomerSupport/ProductDownloads.aspx?model=AL-800
The USA support number is 1-800-237-4277 (1-800-BE-SHARP)
Other numbers are at http://www.sharpusa.com/CustomerSupport/ContactUs.aspx
But the model is old enough that there may not be any phone help available.
None of the control buttons
You need to press the Clear button for 10 seconds - this clears the printing queue and resets all the settings to default. If this fails it means that it's a hardware default - the processor of the printer has failed. In that case the printer is effectively dead because replacing the mainboard (the only way to replace a failed processor) will cost more than a new printer.
