Protective circuits kicking in. You may be overdriving the preamp to a clipping condition the amp sees as a problem. If it is under warranty, contact Line 6 and see if this is normal for this amp. It should not be, but you never can be sure.

Someone posted that removing the white plastic cover on the board-mounted momentary switches exposes the contacts for cleaning; I chose to drill a 1mm hole with a pin vise, as the cover is held by melted plastic tabs, then spray some DeOxit solution into the hole. It has worked for each switch I've tried on my 2 FB's (just found one in the trash today, w/the same prob). Good luck!
