Do you have phone service with Charter as well? If so the modem you have been provided is made to run both the phone service and the internet. If you purchased your own modem from best buy the phone portion would not be present so that is why those connections are not on the new one.
To cut to the point the new modem will work just fine for you internet but bear in mind it will now require another splitter for the coax cable line and each time that you add a splitter you will loose a portion of the incoming signal and this may affect your services.
Thanks,

Pairing Router to Extender.
Hi,
Please double check that each of your products are compatible with each other by either calling Arris or Netgear. You also review the netgear setup instructions after you've made the call if they're compatible.
This is the phone number for Arris: 1-877-466-8646
Thank you.
I have an arris router with suddenlink. i can login but i can't change my ssid because everything's greyed out. how do i fix that?
This can be done -- I've done it to my Arris modem router interface from Suddenlink.Make sure you have your original modem/router login info (typically this is something like admin/admin, or admin/password). You'll need this info in case there is an error and you need to reset your device. If you do this simple step-by-step carefully you won't need to reset and you'll be able to use the password or SSID you prefer with your device. To do this, the page with the grayed out field(s) must have an Apply, Submit, or other button that saves changes on the page.DO NOT TAKE THIS LIGHTLY.IF YOU EDIT THE WRONG GRAYED OUT FIELD YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO USE YOUR MODEM/ROUTER.Only do this for Names, SSIDs, Passwords, etc. Do *NOT* do this for other values--things are grayed out for a reason.1. Use Chrome or Firefox.2. Log into your modem/router.3. Right click on the grayed out field (which you want to edit) and select "Inspect" from the small context menu that appears by your mouse cursor.4. A complex looking set of window panes will open.5. The code for the grayed out field you selected will be highlighted in one of those windows panes.6. In that code look for something like:disabled(or)disabled="disabled"7. Click on that little bit of code text.8. Delete only that text:disabled (or)disabled="disabled"9. As soon as you click out of the editor and back onto the page you'll see the gray is gone and you can change the text in the field which is now editable.10. Replace the SSID, password, key phrase, or other information you're trying to change with the information you want there.BE CAREFUL ABOUT SPECIAL CHARACTERS OR SPACES.THEY MAY NOT WORK.11. After you've changed the text to be what you want, tap the Apply or Submit button on that page.12. The page should refresh now and record the new information in the field(s).If everything goes south (perhaps because you used a space or character which wasn't allowed), it's okay. All modem/routers have a reset button.

my guess is you forgot your ISP owns it

We have an ARRIS CM8200 router and Huawei modem,we have disconnected both items, can we password or code protect to block addicted game playing son access even if he does factory reset?
so why not ask this more clearly????what game not told. PC only topic, there are 2 types of games(besides console games) local on the PC and online games.there is only one way to block local games and that is take away the DVD gaming DISK (DVD) and then erase the game on the PC< (programs & features)Online games (like steam.com and vast others.:Some ISP can be setup to block specific web sites.ask your ISP this,(Internet Service provider)call em'?and this type of app.https://ht-vector.com/how-to-block-games.htmlor just on this 1 PC parental controlshttps://helpdeskgeek.com/free-tools-review/block-websites-for-free-with-parental-control-software/OR a better router , CAN BE bought that has this feature.you can add a list of blocked game web sites.or use DNS shield.https://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/block-websites-from-your-router-or-using-dns/the problem is there are so many gaming websites.best is to jail the PC, until school work is donelock it up. (none told , is it big? or laptop)there there are , kid games using TV or CELLthe paths here today are larger.a custom DNS service is the best IMO as it protect the whole home from this.'the best is DNS, IMO.and for sure see the kids, browser history, to learn where they go. And now the list is bigger

Arris surfboard sag-7580 ac blocks internet from my iPad only...
not told is google blocked (google.com)???????????
there are 1billion web sites now, are all blocked (LOL)_ or just one.?
best is boycott apple. for sure.(grin)
sounds to me (seems) that ipad is blocked by a smart DNS
not told
I use cloudflare. DNS, 1.1.1.1
there vast other DNS, but you didnt tell yours
and DNS can have HUGE parental blocks. to all evil sites
so in the surfboard settings set DNS top 1.1.1.1
to wide open generic, 8.8.8.8.
learn to access your router, RTM read the manual see its IP
and go there and set the DNS to any you like.
i like 1.1.1.1.
Is there a firmware that will work with my arris tg 1682g router/modem?
best is leave it alone and not brick it.
but gee arris.com ask them we are no them.
YOUR UNSTATED ISP WILL NOT ALLOW THIS ASK THEM FIRST,
DO FLASH THERE MODEM, EVER,
If fact they keep it upgraded for you, talk to your ISP and listen to them. (are you dreaming of getting unpaid channel band width, no answer from me)
this?

Where is the WPS button the Arris tm1602?
From a quick look at the specifications, it does not appear that that model offers built in WiFi; thus it would not have a WPS button. In addition, I would caution you against using/enabling WPS on any device, as that protocol has been compromised.
As for solution and recommendations -
Obtain a different model from your service provider with the features you require, or obtain an off the shelf WiFi-capable router from an electronics department. This modem would be able to connect to only a single device without the addition of a router; perhaps that fills your needs but I suspect you will want more than that.
If you choose to obtain a router, you will still likely not have a WPS button - because of the security concerns most if not all of them are off the market. No worries though, many manufacturers offer very simple setup alternatives to WPS - sans the known security risk.
Hope that helps you out!
What is arris ROHS Batt used for
mines in the trash, they keep going bad the shorting out an causing the modem to go dead.
so bought my own (got 2 for backup)
ARRIS SB6183.
no battery is bliss.
or did you mean at garage sale you find a ROHS batt laying on table (that I threw out, LOL) and wonder what it is.?
its a battery and most times no good.
or did you mean you have a modem the battery is dead and wont to buy a new one, and ebay is off line today, that it?
most of these are for VOIP, telephone, use with lost of AC power.
I cut all landline here, and that. so no batteries there. here.
but they are only found on ebay. for sure not in TARGET or Bestbuy.
here go to ebay
then in the search box, type your model model number
eg: ARRIS TG1682G
then at the end type battery.
Not finding what you are looking for?
