20 Most Recent GoVideo Go Video DVD/VCR Combo - Page 3 Questions & Answers

If you can't play a DVD (only) the most likely cause of that is the optical pickup (laser) has failed. It can be repaired, but it usually not cost effective as it cost more to repair vs. replacement, esp. a used unit you can find on line (ebay). I do have the user's guide and worked for GV customr service, and this is my recommendation. You can unplug it for a while, that is the only other possible remedy, but if that doesn't do it....I recommend you trash it. Sorry, there is maybe a 1 in 10 chance the optical pickup will fail during the long term use.

Combo units have this essential flaw--if one half fails you are usually done especially if the DVD side fails.

If Door does not open either a disc is jammed inside the mechanism or the mechanism is out of alignment or damaged.

Good argument against buying these units--DVD individual parts are rarely sold--only (if available) would be the entire DVD unit itself--not cost effective to repair.

DVD players are now real cheap (see some for as little as $20) so if not a simple jammed disc or something like that buy a DVD player.

Go video remote for dvd/vcr recorder combo; you program TV by 2 digit codes. press TV power down when TV is powered on; and input 11 for JVC TV, or 03 for GE TV. You can experiment any two digit codes until TV shut down, then you have just finished programing n150b remote. This also work for all LG dvd/vcr combo recorder remote such as 6711RN203A..

1) you must shure the Disck is cleaned or not scrack , clean very well in vertical SENSE NOT circle, in that way you are erasing the data!
2) use disc cleaner for to clean THE OPU, and can read the TOC from DISC complete.
3) Tight any wires connector inside, and clean the ribbon cable with erase pencil
4) If the problem persist the problem can BE the OPU faulty. Go to the repair shop.

There is a small belt under the loading tray which would have gone slack ( loose ) and the sound you hear is it slipping on the motor pulley. If you are confident you can remove the mechanism and turn it upside down and access this belt. Dismantle only if you can get the spare belt or your efforts will be in vain.

Most DVD recorders use DVD-R, some also use DVD-RW. Newer ones use the +R and DVD-RAM formats.

But for the maximum compatibility, you should use DVD-R.

You have them hooked up right. Are you beyond that, I mean is it not activating?. If so, be sure you scroll through the video settings. It should then connect.
